I'd link, but I just heard this on OnA...

NBC has cancelled 30 Rock, My Name is Earl and The Office because they are all led by stars who are the head writers who are in the WGA, and won't cross the picket lines at all. There's a couple episodes of each in the can (saw Ausiello's list last night via Digg), then they're done.

Also, the sun is due to burn out in under 200 years. Heard that on O&A this morning too.

Fuck, did I just fall for a make stuff up Tuesday?

what's gonna happen with lost?

Lost has 8 episodes in the can but they are undecided as to whether or not to air them since they didn't want a break midseason like last year.

If Nazi's held my parents, and I was forced to bet money on it, I would say yes, you fell for the gag and are a sucker.

BTW, does anyone have an image of the old Looney Tunes "sucker" bit they used to use when one of the characters (whether it be Wile E. Coyote or Elmer Fudd) fell for something and turned into a large sucker? Cause that's what I'd put right here if I could find it.

Sure, top rated , money making shows won't be returning after this strike is finished.

Well, The Office fired over 100 people already (props, cameras, makeup, etc.), which is what made me think it was possible.

Jason Lee is a head writer? Or any kind of writer?

That is the first thing that made this sound like a BS story (outside of the Make Up Stuff Tueday bit)

Do you really want the answer? They said due to the thinning ozone layer people at MIT were going to announce that the sun was consuming it's energy faster than it could produce it and was now projecting the sun would burn out in less than 200 years. It was supposed to be on the front page of Drudge and everything.

Laid off. Not fired. Little bit of a difference. Granted, they aren't getting paid, but they are coming back when the strike is over.

That's what really annoys me about this whole strike; it's a pissing contest between two highly paid groups of people who can afford to be out of work, and the people who get hurt by it are the ones who can't be.

The stars mugging for face time for "solidarity" with the writers makes me ill.

Yeah the Jason Lee thing made me question it. Yeah, ok, fell for it.

Didn't come up on the XM side, so I didn't hear any of that part. I catch most of the FreeFM side on the replay.

Broken teeth, severed legs, same difference really. All that truly matters is that the poor man has suffered enough without the callousness of NBC's petty tactics.

Writers make very little money, less than the actors, directors, production crew, etc.

Nope. The directors, producers, and actors make more than the writers, but no way in hell a camera man, a key grip, a lighting tech, or a makeup person - all people who are out of work because of this - make more than the writers.

Camera men do. Camera men are in high demand and have a specialized skill, but writers are a dime a dozen.

None of those shows are top rated.

All 3 are 3rd or 4th in their time slot. Office is entertaining, 30 Rock is great, but under appreciated.
