So, I'm buying a new guitar and need some help.

Currently I have a Martin acoustic and Gibson SST (Chet Atkins).
That being said; It's time for a big bad-ass electric and wondered if anyone who plays an electric has any suggestions.

Telecaster7 will have nothing to add on this subject.

I say, go out to the stores and play a bunch of different guitars and see what feels nice in your hands and strapped around your shoulder.

Back when I played guitar, I always wanted a Gibson Les Paul, but I never bought one because they're like $2000 a pop. Now that I'm actually old enough to have that kind of money, I don't play anymore. Life is stupid.

I've gotta second what Jersey Rich said. Go play a bunch and find what you like. Guitar Center's a pain to deal with, but if you've got one nearby, they've usually got a pretty good variety. That said, I'm pretty happy with my Strat, but I'm a newbie player, so I may not know any better.

IMO, if you want big and bad-ass check out a Gibson Firebird:

..It also really depends on what kind of music you play though. If you go the Fender route, the new hot-rod strats are great guitars. I really like the 62 with the rosewood neck. It runs about $1500. It has a 12" radius neck so you can get the action really low if that's how you like it. (they also make a hot-rod Tele) If you go Gibson, stay away from the studio Les Pauls. Spend a little more for the Classic, Deluxe etc..That said, if you have the money to burn, check out Tom Anderson, or Crooks guitars. It's my dream to own one someday. Good luck.

...on second thought, maybe Rich was right.
