As far as jobs go, the one I have I pretty much enjoy. It's physical, and kicks my ass, but keeps me in shape and the money's good. Well this week some fat cat from corporate came down to evaluate operations to try to cut costs. He determined we were making too much money. It's company policy that our wages can't be lowered, so he just put a bunch of new things in place to make our jobs a lot more difficult, which effects our pay since we get paid by how much we produce.
The changes as far as I can see save little to no money, and since we're not getting as much done, they no doubt will have to hire more people. Our manager didn't stick up for us at all when he was asked if we could handle the changes, and I pretty much want to knock him the fuck out. Someone took a job I liked, took a giant shit on it, ate it, and shit it back out again.

that sucks.
i know the feeling, after leaving the HR department of my last job the whole department went to shit, corporate came down to investigate and had so many complaints that they ended up doing a total restructuring.
nothing like seeing managers who've been with a company for 15 years leave for lunch and choose not to come back.

Yeah, this shit sucks and is way too common. I'm walking out of my job next week too. It's all gone to hell, but when I go, they are gonna be straight fucked.

The corporate motto for the past 10 years or so is "do MORE with LESS". When I started working at my job 8 years ago - there were 6 people in the office. Now there are 4 and corporate is talking about making more cuts. Of course, they don't want ANY less productivity but how do you cut 1/2 the staff and still get the same work load? Makes no sense, Man.
I hope you can find another job you enjoy - they are few and far between.
Good luck, Bro!

I had a sweet job as a Sales Rep with a coal company and hob-nobbed with alot of the coalfields "rich and famous". My normal routines consisted of flying to golf matches in the company helicopter in other states and going to many professional sports functions with my "good" customers.
Well, that all came to a fucking halt when the new president of the coal group decided he didnt like me because I was not a "yes" man. I told him the correct answers to the questions that he would have for me instead of sucking his ass and lying. Boy, did I learn the corporate rule the hard way - a severence package and seperation papers. It was disguised as company cutbacks (each department had to cut) but I noticed that they hired others immediately after I left.
Now, I have a $30,000 less per year job and I am strapped to a desk 6 days a week! If I ever see that SOB again I will cave his fucking chest in with my golf putter!:furious:

That really sucks, I'm sorry. When I was in high school I got a job as an intern doing tech support. I had a really great boss who made it a point to teach me a lot of stuff while I was doing work. He was a good manager with a great sense of humor. After about a month there, I showed up one day and found out he had been let go. They tried to restructure the IT department and put someone above him. He gave his two weeks, but apparently he had a contract that said he needed to give 4. He refused to give him more than 2, so they fired him. It was a really stupid move on their part, since he built the entire computer infrastructure for the company himself. They then improved on the situation by hiring a friend of the owners son to replace him. He was completely incompetent and had a management style very similar to Earl's. It worked out because I was in high school, and didn't need the job. So I didn't have too much trouble quiting. At the time I really felt like a great opportunity had been stolen from me.
