I'm in the market to get some GPS Navigation for my truck. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

I know Garmin combines XM NavTraffic with some of their receivers, but they are prohibitively expensive.

Also, do you need to buy a subscription to anything when you get this?

Thanks!!

Most packages don't require a subscription. The XM NavTraffic is a seperate charge in addition to your XM account.

I use my Pocket PC Phone & a bluetooth GPS receiver ($50). No monthly fee. Only have to buy the mapping software (or download it for free if you're sneaky).

I've had the Magellan Roadmate 2000 for about 2 days now. I really like the thing. No complaints yet but then again this is my 1st experience with GPS and I didn't check out any other ones.

If you have any specific questions about this one I could hopefully answer them for ya. It found it's way home from my buddy's house and got me to work this morning, but those are 2 places I know how to get to. The real test will be the next time Unhallowed has a show out of state.

We have the Garmin Nuvi 250 (or maybe 350, the flat one) and we love it. Helps re-rout if you press the detour button in traffic. Better directions than map quest. I love it.

I ended up getting the TomTom One Third edition. I managed to haggle Circuit City down to Staples' Black Friday price, which is 125.

Now I just have to figure out how to mount it in my truck... the MyFi already takes up a good piece of real estate...

Get a palm t3, and a blue-tooth gps antenna. buy mapopolis, and have fun....I like this setup, it is nice to use, it is not plug and play you have to put the maps in the palm....so not for non-computer types.

For plug and play, garmin is good stuff.

You can't even ask if someone's Dad is dead?

People need to lighten up a bit.

Once you figure that out please please please do not forget to take it with you out of your car...you do not want to come back to a smashed window do you?

I have the same one. Works well but the map updates are taking forever to come out and you'ld be surpeised at how many exits and new roadways there are even after only a year or two.
