I just downloaded Levon Helm's new album off iTunes. I suggest everyone get this album. I can't stop listening to it. My favorite songs by The Band were always the ones he sang. There's just something so real to his voice. If you're a fan of Levon, give this one a listen.

I read an article on him in EW and it's sad what he's been going through. He plays in farmhouses now and charges 150$ a ticket just to pay his mortgage.

I just saw this thread, or I would have said something earlier.

I've been listening to an interview with him on WAMU.org for the last half hour, and I think it'll continue "after the traffic and weather". Sonds pretty good, but I'm not gonna rush out and get it today. Good stuff though, talking about his cancer and recovery.
The show is Fresh Air, which will probably be on NPR.org later if anyone wants to find it.

*Uh oh. Jetdog beat me to it.

I've had this album for a few months now and it just keeps growing on me, "the mountain," "little birds," "A train robbery," "wide river to cross" are amazingly beautiful songs, and the rest of the album ain't too shabby...

"Oh I got me a woman and a prety fine one at that, we live with a monkey and a chinese acrobat..."

Levon Helm, Me, Vini Lopez [Springsteen's original E Street drummer] I got lucky at a festivsal they were both playing. Levon at that time wasnt singing at all, thank Christ he got his voice back.

Wow do I look like a star fucking dick.

Anyway, He's playing Asbury Park's Paramount Theatre next weekend for those in NJ/surrounding area. Go.
