I've been checking out the Saul Williams album mentioned on R&F today. It's pretty cool. Williams and Reznor seem to mesh nicely. Not to mention that shit like this must have the big record labels shitting their guts.

Goddamn, I like artists sticking it to "the man," but unlike Radiohead, I doubt this will ever get a physical release.

Goddamn, I like sucking "the man," I like head, I doubt I will ever get physical release.
Fixed.
Seriously though, I don't know that physical releases of albums are going to be all that important.

Some of us still like actually buying albums to have as part of a music collection. And internet-only tracks typically sound like shit compared to what they would sound like on an actual CD.

I think there will always be a market for higher-quality recordings, it just seems that as technology blossoms and dies, the majority of people move on to the new technology regardless of quality.

Well, this is pretty far from the differences between vinyl and CD's. I agree vinyl sounds better, but cassettes ended up not taking over because they sounded SO shitty compared to albums. Then CD's came along as a higher quality middle ground. I don't deny that digital music is the future, but it's going to have to take more advances in production and conversion to make it sound not like sonic swamp-ass.

Trent has been really busy the last couple of years. Two albums now this and doesn't he want to make a movie too?

Not sure, but his production on this album is, in a word, deft. Hopefully (and obviously there will be) more production in his future.

I consider Reznor to be the new danger in the production world.

Something odd happened when I tried to order it: I went for the option to buy it, because I'm not a deadbeat and I want to support independent artists. I put in my info, and it looked like it went through, but I never got a link to download it. I went back later and did pick up the free version, and that came through fine.
I haven't had a chance to listen yet. I will soon.

Listened to the tracks on his myspace page, and I do believe I will be procuring this. Some really unique stuff.
And I've also come to realize that I'm such a fucking fanboy of Reznor's, that it's downright ridiculous.

Saw him at the Coney Island Siren Fest about 3 years ago. He was the only "rap" act and the white hipsters were pretty confused. Now that Trent's behind him, i think he'll get more heat. Check out the Sunday Bloody Sunday remake .

When they played the track off of this recently (not sure of song title)
I couldn't help but think that it really sounds like East Side Dave answering "NOTHING"
for the line "when I say Niggy, you say nothing" did anyone else hear this?
I know it's not him, but Goddammit it sounds like him...
