I've had two batteries in my MyFi unit expand and warp on me. I was about to buy a new one when I realized that I don't use my MyFi when walking/traveling, it's strictly in my truck. I pulled the battery out and turned on the system, and other than it saying "insert battery", it loaded up fine.

This won't cause a problem, will it?

it shouldn't, as long as it has the power from your truck you will be fine.

I was wondering the same thing once my battery finally kicks, but if it'll work fine off of my car's power then i wont worry about it.

Friendly reminder from Myradiostore.com

The only thing it may effect would be presets. And if you had the Black Battery in your Myfi they were the ones with the issues. There was a recall and they sent out White batteries that aren't supposed to have that problem.

Why are the batteries warping in the first place? Do you mount the radio in front of the heating vent?

No. Summertime heat, and I leave the MyFi in the truck.

I do that too. In my Subaru. It's like a solarium inside the car in the summertime. Never had a problem like that. In fact, if the unit got too hot, it would just quit charging until the battery cooled down.
