Well it also came out that Jericho was friends with Reeves and that Jericho's mother was quadriplegic. Thus, it hit a little close to home. It was really uncomfortable, but I couldn't turn it off.

Before Anthony's girlfriend knew him, she had an encounter with a former O&A producer as part of a bit to save a lobster being cooked on the air. (She's a vegetarian).

This was before she was dating Anthony.

The boards, being that they are, made a huge amount of drama about this, because it was SHOCKING a woman could be with someone else before entering into a long-term, loving relationship with someone else. Especially since Ant's girlfriend wasn't looking for fame or recognition from the show.

With the amount of crap that was being brewed over the sitation, plus the former producer betraying Anthony over something else (leaving the show right before they got syndicated, then threatening legal action when his bits were being played after he left the show) caused the content restriction.

The "spaz" content restriction stems from any potential lawsuit, the lobster girl thing is just to quell the drama.

I still haven't heard the audio yet, so I'm going into this blindly, but the "social norm" defense does work here, comedy or not.

When people call in to the show and get tooled on, usually they've done something to encourage them getting tooled on.

Take for example, Marge from the Little Shelter. She's gotten abused time and time again, and yet she still calls in.

With "bad guests", that's more tooling on the guests for not knowing what show they were getting involved with.

Jericho has ALWAYS been a good guest on O&A, even with the Mulejuice McQueen goofiness. He's someone their fanbase wasnts to hear. He's one of the top 5 "cool" wrestlers, in that Rock rarified air.

If Jericho expressed his mom was a parapelegic, and that Reeves shouldn't be joked about, Jimmy should have tread lightly.

Jimmy made the fucking joke because it was a really easy joke to make. I doubt he knows or cares about Jericho's background. There was a Christopher Reeve setup lobbed up there and three people ran up to hit it. Jimmy just beat the other two to the punch. Its not like this is the first time they've made fun of Reeve. Hell, its probably not even the 10,000th time they've made fun of Reeve.

If anyone acted like a bitch it was Jim. The guy, Jericho who I could give two shits about has a positive history with the show - and is/was fully aware of what the show is about. In my opinion he deserved better. Jim crossed the line.
They both probably could have dropped it and moved on, but Jim seemed to be more angered by the entire situation and went into bitchy mode.

I think it was big but I don't see the need to line up against one side or the other. I think the show has been amazing the last month. There have been alot of great guests and moments in that time. For me today was the best. I listened to the last hour of the show about 3 times already. There are so many ranges of emotion in that span. Patrice made it even better by disecting the tension as it progressed.

the interview reminded me a lot of how jimmy said he wouldn't let stuff go with his girl. i think jimmy stayed pissy a lot longer than jericho. that said, jimmy was in the right here and said if he knew it would have truly bothered jericho he would have backed off beforehand. i caught the show (twice!) right after the line so didn't hear the line or set-up, but it did seem like jericho didn't come across as serious in his objection to the material till after the line came out. as he said, jimmy's not a mind-reader.

I listened back to the whole blowup, and honestly not being there to get the entire dynamic of it all it's understandable how it got that way. Misunderstandings happen. And I know earlier on in it I had totally blamed Jimmy for going too far, but as a comic this is what he does. Not to intentionally go after someone and hurt them, but be daring enough to get the laugh he wants.

All in all it was great radio. And Chris Jericho has always brought that something extra for years. And this is what makes the show so briliant. I have grown to appreciate that. More so in recent times.
