the internet before the whole "BLOG"craze!

Actually guy, I kinda do.

I remember the first mention of a 'blog'. I didn't know what it was at the time...

It was a sportswriters blog. I was watching Sportsnet HD and one of the anchors told me to check out Roger Millions blog.....

I didn't.

I care about blogs as much today as I did that day.

I do feel bad about it because Kathleen apparently has a great blog.

I'm sorry I don't read Kathleens blog.

I remember when I was a wittle internet baby and had AOL do all the work for me. They used to help me use html address and a slow chatroom. I also had a wittle profile that people can connect with me.

Those were the Days

Barely. I do remember having to explain the term blog to people though. I wonder if my parents know what one is yet.

Let's take it back another step... to the internet before advertising.

I recall a time, harkening back to 1997... an internet where people still used chat rooms, a majority of websites were "homemade", an the terms "ad banner" and "pop-up" were yet to be coined.

I love harkening and when I do, it's back to 1995 when chat rooms were so primitive that you could "imp" someone by copying and pasting their name and avatar as your own and wreak havoc in the room by saying all sorts of homoerotic things in someone else's name.

I logged onto BBS' in 1987 to download games, which took hours. As in, "leave the computer on all night and hope the game is there tomorrow" hours.

wow
i still remember aol 3.0. it was the big thing, as so were the "warez" progs.
the good ole days of "i/m bombs" to jam up their connection and boot them.

also, the good ole private mp3 rooms where you used to type in /list to get a list of what they had emailed to you.
you then typed in /9, or /15, and *poof* an mp3 would appear in your inbox.

i remember the first mp3 i ever owned- it was "angel of mine" by Monica

"My friends were knocking down my door...to get into my Commodore 64."

Goddamn, I loved that computer. I had an Amiga from '89-'93, too. Great, great computer.

I still can't get over how they managed to pack 64 kilobytes of RAM into that thing for a paltry $600.

i loved the ginormous cartridges the games were on (vic 20...never had the 64). or the games on tape that would take 10 minutes to load up

The term "Blog" is an amalgamation of the shortened version of the two words "black" and "ogle". Black Ogling is a term that dates back to the late 1700's when white slave masters would let their neighbors come over and ogle their black slaves. During this "black ogling" period the white plantation owners would discuss various topics that were popular at the time. It is an extremely racist term and Im surprised Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have not called for the term to be banned.
