Entertainment Weekly has a top 25 list (http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20153598,00.html) of the best movie action heroes. It looks like they select heroes with the following rules:
They'll only go with one hero for each actor. So you don't see Mel Gibson listed for both Mad Max and Lethal Weapon's Martin Riggs, or see Arnold up there for multiple roles.
The rankings are based on only movie for each hero. So they only evaluate Sean Connery for Bond in Goldfinger, and not each of the 6 Bond movies he did.
The list looks pretty good. I agree with the #1 hero, and like some of the suprises (La Femme Nikita). I think Connery should be higher up on the list, but at first glance I don't see any major actors/heroes missing.
