it works within the framework of the government because you can vote for a representative who has the same ideals that you do without being bound by geography. I am not saying do away with geographical representation, as many bills in congress have to do with getting money for particular geographic areas (infrastructure improvements, for example) but other things like voting on whether we go to war is not limited to geographic interests. We may need a third congressional house to do what I propose, but I hate that my congressman (Chakah Fattah) doesn't represent anything I stand for and so does nothing for me.

That is a nice idea....but a crazy slippery slope. Where do the ideological representatives start? How many are there? Are they proportional? Who is included/excluded? If you took that to a logical ending, we'd have 300 million representatives.

Instead we have a representative republic.

those are the problems with my idea, and I am working on them. I'll let you know what I come up with. the representative government we have is a product of a similar type of process of working out what is fair. but I disagree that the only type of representation possible is that based on geography.

Sex in heaven is probably the main selling point of the LDS church: the person you are married and sealed to shows up next to you when they die.

LDS founder Joseph Smith had himself "sealed" to hundreds of women, including celebrities of the day like Lillie Langtry, in expectation of having heavenly sex.

That seems like a fair trade. I would be willing to give up liquor, caffeine and cigarettes if I could pick as many women from the menu that I could have sex with for all of eternity on a rotating basis.

I am not familiar with this idea, but if I understand what you are saying, elections become strictly a matter of parties and not individual candidates, which I would have a problem with.

Sorry - stupid work has me busy.

It's a "hybrid" of favoring both party and politician (when done right). The key is that it gives smaller parties a chance at having their nominees elected, even if they aren't the most popular party out there.

A person can vote for individual candidates and the parties get representation based on overall percentage of votes.

Believe me, I am for ZERO parties and electing people based purely on individual platform, but our current system simply doesn't allow it. Adopting a Proportional system would at least be a step in the right direction (hopefully leading to eventual dissolution of parties - although it isn't guaranteed).
