View Full Version : Where is the black outrage over the #1 party rap song "Crank Dat"?

Have you people heard the song that seems to be taking the world (USA) by storm? It's called Crank Dat by some rapper named Soulja Boy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMycfdNdlKA
Okay, so now that you have seen it..
We have young black kids dancing around singing about supermaning (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=superman)a ho. They have women dancing around, they have a lot more but I couldn't make it through the whole thing. And that's just the video. In real life outside of the TV you have white people everywhere doing the dance. Frat parties, tailgates, house parties, everyone loves the stupid thing. It's being played on XM 20 on 20 constantly and on other top hits stations.
And the main hook of the song is about jacking off on a "ho's" back when she's sleeping.
How come Imus gets eternal rage for a throw away comment but rappers can sing about this trash and make it a #1 hit and no one says a single thing?

are you serious?
do you think people actually pay attention to the lyrics in these songs?
this isn't actually hot news either
i had a friend come over specifically to put this song on his myspace page, that had to be 2 months ago
it's a little late for outrage.
lastly, they've yet to edit "skeeeetskeeeetskeeeeet" from that windows to the wall song, who the fuck knows what skeeetskeetskeet means besides us and chris rock anyway?

Sharpton and Jackson, Al especially, moved on to speaking out against and meeting with music industry figures in regards to the lyrical content in much of the hip-hop released to the public. Sharpton is still doing it.

I watched it and they bleep the word "ho" in the hook, replace it with "ohhhhhh" instead. So it has been censored in BET fashion.
And although you and I may dislike this type of music dismissing it as trash unfit for TV gives sharpton more power to make life more less fun. You've hearby been reported to the PAC.

By being spiteful against rap with your pro Imus agenda is still advancing censorship. Imus got fired, it sucked. Move on before everything gets taken away

I don't know why people subscribe to satellite radio and then listen to a bullshit station like 20 on 20. That channel would be a shitty FM station.
I want to get together a campaign to bomb that station with requests and get "Bite It You Scum" by GG Allin, or possibly something by Cannibal Corpse, played on that channel.
So everytime something an angry white guy thinks sucks happens in the black community are we gonna have to hear about Don Imus?

It is really some of the worst, least memorable shit I've heard to date. The top 20 songs in the country are just fucking awful.
If someone shit on mic for 3 and a half minutes and the radio stations backed it, it would soar up the charts. It's astounding what the general public laps up and calls good music.

I agree with you Moe, I think pop today is as mindless as it's ever been, stuff like "check out my grill" and "pop your collar" are more examples. I like Rap, Hip-Hop whatever you want to call it and I appreciate you calling this song "pop", most people who listen to top 20 channels or just don't listen to or like rap would label it as rap when in reality it's a R&B dance song with a simple hook, just like any pop song.

I side with Moe. When I hear these pop hits, it just sounds flat and lifeless. The fact that most people may not like death metal shows that it is not easily digestible, which I see as a good attribute in art. I can't really get into classical music, but I can appreciate someone who does. In fact, I am jealous of people who dig that wierd shit.

Thank you, that was my only point. As far as catchy pop goes, this one song and most of what I hear these days is 100% disposable bullshit. It has no lasting value and will just be replaced by the next piece of garbage. I wasn't trying to imply people should be listening to Death Metal instead, that's a very stupid conclusion to draw from what I posted.
I remember when what was poppy was actually something worth holding onto. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers were total pop back in the day and I still put "Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik" in my iPod everytime it crashed and I have to replace it. I personally like some Avril Lavigne and think her 1st couple albums were pretty good. A long time ago Snoogans sent me some Our Lady Peace and I still have some of it on my iPod.
I like a lot of music, and the crap I hear today is just disposable. It's noise, it has no substance. Pop music doesn't have to be like that.

After hearing this Soulja Boy song, I needed to find out what "superman a ho" meant :
A male does a female (ho) in the butt and pulls out in time splooge on her back. Then allows the ho to roll over and fall asleep on her back. The next morning the sheets will be stuck to her back like superman's cape. Resulting in a superman ho!
So, the fact that girls are dancing to this makes it the best rap song ever.

Oh man, how did I miss this thread. I even searched for "superman" and still missed this one (there's an amazing number of threads with the word superman in it).

Yeah, angry, vindictive anal sex is just what she needs. How dare she do a stupid dance and like a stupid song. That clearly needs to be punished.
And then you managed to step up the classiness even more.
What a winner.

I said you were taking shots at me because you directed a shot at me the next post after I said this song sucks and continued against me after that so you can save your long winded analysis of my psyche through the internet. And why haven't you interacted with me on the messageboard for over 6 months Snoogans? Did I do something to you? Last thing I knew you and I weren't at odds. Is there something I should know?
Anyway, we seem to agree that most music is disposable today. That was my only real point here. We just disagee with that point on this song.
No, I was just sayin it as a point of fact. And the song is absolutely disposable. Most of them are. I was just sayin it served its purpose, pretty well to.

We had a "Cosmic Bowling" birthday party for my son at a local bowling alley a couple of weeks ago and the DJ played that song. My son's party was one of about six or seven birthday parties going on at the time and it was funny watching kids ranging in age from 5 to 12 just dancing around and having a jolly old time to "Supermanning that ho."
I'm pretty sure that I was the only adult there who had a clue what was going on, if you don't count the DJ. He's just lucky I have a sense of humor. My wife couldn't understand why I was chuckling as I was watching all the shenanigans.
