If you had to pick one team that definately won't win a championship within the next 20 years what team would you pick. At the end of the 20 years you get 10 million dollars. If the team you picks wins a championship before the 20 years you get shot in the back of the head. You can pick from NBA,MLB,NFL, or NHL. So who's your team?

That's easy, the Detroit Lions.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Will never have the money to compete.

I'd be willing to go 40 years for $20 million or you could shoot my entire family:

Tampa Bay Devil Rays... as long as they're in the division with the Yanks and Sox, there's no chance.

Kansas City Royals, they're basically the Devil Rays, but with a longer history.

Winnipeg Jets
From wikipedia
During a press conference Gary Bettman stated that the idea of Winnipeg having an NHL team sounds intriguing. He also stated that another team in Winnipeg could happen one day.[
It could happen and it means your life.:bye:

The KC Royals. Unless baseball goes through a major sea change, they will never be able to compete monetarily.

There are talks from fans and media every year about a franchise returning. It usually kicks off around the all-star break.
Bettman has some issues with coming back to Canada, his vision is to grow the sport in the states. I can see his point, it's working very well in Phoenix, Columbus, Florida and Atlanta.
I think it will be safe to stay with the hockey Jets, it will be at least 10 years till a real commissioner gets into the league, 5 years from that to get a franchise and no one wins within 5 years of expansion/ relocation... Except the Flyers I guess.

haven't you come to realize recently that it's not as important in baseball? small market teams do make the playoffs and win titles.

Thats kinda the point of the question. The Marlins won a few years ago out of nowhere and the Rockies and Diamondbacks have a shot this year. I'm willing to guess both were better than 200 to 1 to win before the season started.

that's why i'd never pick a baseball team. football and basketball are safer picks. btw, did you mean 200 to 1? if all the teams were equal they'd each be 30 to 1.

How can we discuss future sports and not include Rollerball?

And the NHL won't be around in 10 more years, never mind 20.

i would never pick either one of those teams. those are all decent franchises. the eagles were just in the superbowl a few years ago.

yes but the Philly curse allows that to happen, the Mets well......., and the Knicks have gone south. Away from my teams, I have to go Cubs. Whats it 99 years now?

yea but 20 years is a long time. the Knicks are south now, but just 15 years ago they were one of the premier teams in the league. Philly and NYC are big market teams where players want to come and be on the big stage.
