Despite everyone on the radio saying they won't watch this. I am excited to see some good baseball. So far so good

Yea, I am a fan of an AL team, but I really enjoy watching how mangers use stradegies without the DH.

That is the worst kind of double play

I'm really kinda disappointed in the "baseball fans" on the board. This has already started out like it's gonna be a great game and no one is watching cause their teams are out? I don't care who is playing, if it's a sport I like and it's the playoffs, I'm excited to watch it

Welcome Jeff. Anyone picking sides in this series

Doesn't really matter to me. I'm hoping we get to see all good games and it goes 7 so whoever is warn out if the sox play them next round.

Actually, Kevin just brought up a good point to me. Cleveland hasn't won a WS since 1948 and Colorado is the only recent exp who hasn't won yet. So I hope Colorado wins, so if the Sox manage to fuck up, they can win the WS and Cleveland would feel almost as bad as the Cubs

oh yea the DRays havent, but they are minor leagues

Bossanova

Yeah, I was kinda going with the Rockies

When like 5 Yankees make more individually then your entire team.. You don't count as a franchise.

everyone will laugh at that, but 2 actually do, and 1 is right behind

The mets still pay Bonilla 1.3 mill a year in his release buy out deal. I think you got another 14 years of it too

Snoogans
10-11-2007, 05:54 PM
To get rid of Bobby Bonilla, the New York Mets agreed to pay him $29.8 million instead of $5.9 million -- with a catch.

The unhappy outfielder won't start getting the money until 2011 and won't receive the entire sum until 2035 -- when he'll be 73 years old.

''It was a distraction and a problem we needed to address this offseason,'' Mets general manager Steve Phillips said Monday after placing Bonilla on unconditional release waivers.

Bonilla's salary this season will be deferred for 12-36 years at an 8 percent annual interest rate. He will receive 25 equal payments of $1,193,248.20 each July 1 from 2011 to 2035, according to the revised contract, a total of $29,831,205.

When i am rich.. I am going to propose to Wilpon that i give a negotiated amount to his favorite Charity just for me to be in the room every month or year he has to write that check.. I don't care how much he wants.

Umm...that's kind of a dick statement as I can pick out 5 Yankees & hit about $90-100 Million easy.

Relax buddy.. It was just as much of a self depreciating Yankee fan comment as it was an anti Drays comment..

Hence joke...

It was great...

Hence the ambiguity of the internets.........

The irony is that money is becoming such a small factor for those teams that can hit between $70-100 million....as player development is everything.

Somewhere it seems Cashman forgot about that.

Not so sure anymore.. Being that fact that all 5 of the Yankee rotation could prob be home grown Yankees.. Ok 4.. You can't really count Andy..

Hughes Wang Kennedy Joba.. And there are others coming.. So Cashman is getting it.

I'll give you Hughes & Kennedy. Is Joba going to the pen or the rotation? And Wang is a purchase...not a development.

I guess your right about Wang.. But he was kinda a Project when they signed him.. He could go either way depending on a persons mentality.. The reason why it took him util 25 to come up was he had Tommy John.. And Yea Joba will be tried as a starter.. If it doesn't work.. He will be a closer.. But they are going to start him.

Getting it? And just what did those guys prove yet, and still have a core of multi-million dollar contracts backing them up at the plate and all over the lineup.

My favorite moment in this broadcast thus far was the "Meet the Rockies"/fuck it's not the Mets/Cubs segment TBS ran. You know, the team's summary os 162 fucking games, a playoff sweep and one hell of a run and finally the league and TBS was forced to talk/show this team! MLB is a fucking joke. Would this even come close to happening in the NFL!? No way.

Spoon Yankee payroll comment... Shocker..

It doesn't matter if they have proved anything yet... I was just stating that they are starting to build through the farm...

Granted that has just as much to do with money then.. As i stated before in posts. The draft is more about who has money to pay these guys then it is draft position.. But the Yanks are not the only team thats taking advantage.. Sox Tigers Mets Dodgers and a few others..

I think TBS just really wanted in. They payed a ton, but didnt just want the first round. Fox knew they had a chance at Boston-New York for the next 5 years
