View Full Version : I save my receipts
(I was thinking about this last night as I was balancing my checkbook.)
Everytime I use the ATM, or whenever I charge something to my credit card, I save the receipt. I've always kept them in order to validate the monthly statements -- especially for balancing my checkbook. I've also continued this habit since I travel a lot for work and need to keep receipts to get reimbursed.
Does anyone else save receipts or do you just toss them?

I'm absolutely terrible at saving receipts! I throw them all out unless its something I buy that I'm not sure I want to keep or think I may need to return. Other than that I chuck them right the hell out and I don't balance a checkbook. The only thing I do keep track of are the bills I pay (the checks I write out) because I know I'm getting paid the following week so I don't sweat it. Someone could easily wipe my acct out slowly and I wouldn't know it. But I'm constantly moving moving between checking accts, I'm a transfer-a-holic so my $ never sits in 1 acct for longer than a few days anyway.

i keep all my receipts in date order. when I am done checking my statements and matching it to my receipts, I file them. at the end of the year, I put them into envelopes and put them in a shoe box to keep for 3-5 years just in case i ever get audited. i am a maniac.

I save my receipts but only cause I'm a packrat. So if I have a costanza wallet.
All full of receipts that I either think might come in handy or that have notes or numbers written on them.

I save them too, but every once in a while I go back and get rid of anything I KNOW I'm not gonna need.

I stuff 'em in my wallet and then throw them away when it gets too full. I make sure to keep receipts for electronic devices until the warranty period runs out.
