So how will you tell your children about Topps burgers?

Topps, a burger that has been around my whole life, it was always a staple at college bbqs, cheap house parties, poor man's tailgating, and other places where all that was required were the cheapest burgers money could buy.
I'll miss them in some weird way, I'd always see them in the frozen section in the supermarket and they would bring back some wonderful memories.
I wonder who will claim the market now that they are gone.
(the company is shutting down (http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D8S35KGG0.htm) for those who are wondering)

I cant believe this recall is to costly to keep the company going? Something else is going on here. Topps is the largest burger company in America no way they dont have the money to handle this one problem? I would bet that meat, chicken, fish etc type of companies have some sort of insurance policy that would cover them against recall losses. I dont know for sure, but I would think.

i do not think I have ever bought a Tops or Bubba burger. I go to the grocery store and buy nice fresh chopmeat and make my own burgers

Are they going to continue making baseball cards?
Bubba burgers are great for frozen. Just remember, don't flip the burger til you see the juices on top!

One thing hurt them is the way they get paid. When they 'sell' their stuff to a store like Shop Rite they do it on a credit basis. Shop Rite buys their stuff and says they will pay them back at the end of the month, this way Shop Rite can sell all the Topps burgers, take in their profit, and then pay Topps back with the cash from all the sales. Now that everything was recalled they have lost a ton of money, all the money they were supposed to get for all of those burgers now amounts to nothing. All of the money they were going to get is now gone. Two months of this now, no money being made. Perhaps they were operating on a thin margin to begin with..

Well if prepackaged frozen meat doesn't make you feel nostalgic, I don't know what will.
mildly amusing

it really is kind of dumb to wax nostalgic about frozen burgers, but they definitely remind me of some old school tailgating at Giants stadium...so i think i might miss em...

For a second, I thought I read , " How will you tell your chicken about Topps Burgers?" I imagine that if I were a chicken, I'd be worried because there's one less alternative to getting eaten. My respose still holds true even if you replace chicken with children.

And please excuse my hard-on and drooling right now: my wife is on the way to Wendy's to get me a Baconator.

I never really got the frozen patty thing. I always got either the fresh ground from Shop Rite, or the REALLY fresh ground from Matthew's Butcher Shop in Oradell. If you order over 3 pounds, he only charges $1.99 @. And they will also break up the packaging for you.
That's a tasty burger.

When burger buying, I always go with what tastes better and costs less.
I always have the water running in the sink before I handle the meat so I don't have raw meat leavins on the knobs.....

I go to the same shop or sometimes I'll go to united meat market in New Milford. Frozen burgers are gross. Topps used to look and taste like a hot checker. (same size as a checker too)
