"The Red Sox chose Division Series B, which means they will open their Division Series against the Angels on Wednesday, have an off-day on Thursday and play Game 2 on Friday.
The Red Sox-Angels series will be played over an eight-day span, as compared to the seven days the Yankees-Indians would have to play their series if it goes to the five-game limit."
Indians v. Cubs in the series.

Just found the game after looking all over the place for it.
TBS-Ch 8 on Time Warner in Queens.
I love these games, one game for a ticket to the post season. Nothing beats playoff baseball, plus you get to see Peavey pitch, who's one of the best in the game. If you're not watching this game, you're just not a big baseball fan. Not including the Met fans, I'm sure the nerves are still too raw for them. But this is good stuff.

I'm in a tough spot here. I am a Phillies fan, I want the Padres to win, but I don't want them to get hot. I want them to scrap and claw and have to fight for their existience, but they have just pulled ahead of the Rockies. Can't have them gaining momentum.
Even if they do, the Phils have plenty of momentum of their own, not to mention a few days to rest those weary muscles. Whoever wins tonight, bring it!

Yeah, those Cubs stink. Those same Cubs who have the best record in all of baseball the last 4 months except for the Yankees. Boy, they suck.
And man, teams that don't have 90 wins sure are terrible. 3 teams have 89 and 1 has 88. Guess their seasons would have been good if only they had won that magical single game. But hey, no need to worry, the teams that win at least 90 games always lock it down and win it al-, OH, SORRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

TheMojoPin
10-01-2007, 08:34 PM
They only have 2 angles of the slide...the one from the backstop shows that Holliday's hand slams into Barrett's foot and Barrett's foot backs up over the plate, but Holliday's hand is obscurred. If his hand is pushing Barrett's foot back like it looks like, it very likely touches the plate.
Both angles suck.

Didn't Holliday win the Batting Title & the RBI title? Couple that with the 14 of the last 15 wins....and you've got a pretty compelling argument.

Which is sort of the whole point of a closer, isn't it? Anyone who think he is better than Eckersley, Mariano, or Sutter in his prime is either lost or blind.
Part of it with Hoffman is the type of pitcher he is. His out pitch is the change, and while thats a great pitch to get swings and misses, its also very much a 'feel' pitch. If he is a little off, doesn't get steady work, has any tension, or even just some cold weather where he can't get a good grip and it becomes a BP fastball. I think thats why he craps the bed in big spots.

Its amazing that The Mets and and the Padres both didnt make it in, but thats what happens.
I got tix to the first two home games. Should be unbelievable.
As for the playoffs:
NLDS
Phils over Rocks
D-Backs over Cubs
ALDS
Angels over Sox
Yanks over Indians
NLCS
Phils over D-Backs
Yanks over Angels (finally)
World Series
Yanks over Phils 4-1
Truly hope it doesn't end that way, but the Yankees have a pretty substantial juggernaut of a team right now. That's the paper pick.

Question: Why would an American League team only carry 10 pitchers on their roster for the playoffs? It's not like they do alot of double-switching like in the NL.
Wouldn't the advantage be in carrying an extra pitcher or two for position players you aren't gonna use?

Is there any kind of history involved with these teams outside of them just being tossed together by new divison boundaries? I mean REAL rivalries, with actual passion and bitterness and history.
I remember talking to Brewers fans this season who were really trying to act like the showdown between the Cubs was the result of some kind of storied rivalry between the teams, and it was just pathetic. The Brewers are still basically an American League team that just got dumped in the NL. There's no history of any kind outside of sharing a divison for like a decade or so and being in the same region of the country. Whooooopedee-doo.
I hate the Cardinals. I hate the Mets. I hate the White Sox. Those teams have some fucking ugly and crazy heated history with my team...why would I randomly hate a team, like, say, the Rockies? Or the Rangers? Or even the Brewers? Hate implies passion, dammit.

I really don't hate the Yankees and I never have. Players will float around the league that I can't stand, and a lot of them tend to gravitate towards the Yanks, but it's not like I've ever hated the team. I appreciate the history and impressive championships over the course of the game. The teams I hate all stem from direct rivalries with my team and their long histories. Along those lines, I really have zero reason to hate the Yankees.

And then the Cardinals did nothing but win IN the playoffs. And as opposed to the Yankees, the Rockies have yet to give up a loss. The Red Sox are the best match up of the two AL teams, but to think they're just going to walk all over the Rockies is basically completely removing yourself from reality.

I don't get how its cheating if its not banned.
If someone takes some sort of legal supplement and gains an advantage from it, but its something that wasn't available to the old players, is that cheating? The players are gaining advantages from their diets and training programs that weren't available to the older players. Is that cheating?
This is why I don't get all the Bonds haters. He took something that the major leagues weren't banning to gain an advantage; something just about every player would do in his position. I feel its only cheating if its against the MLB rules.

Sox in 5.
But I hope it goes 7.
I can't believe how much I dislike the NFL nowadays. I'll be really sad when the baseball season's over.
At least there's hockey.
Yeah at least you can watch my former defensemen you prick. Boston in 6

Do the Rockies normally wear jerseys like they are wearing tonight?
Its like a vest and everyone is wearing shirts underneath. They look weird.

It's just a matter of time until we see the human victory cigar. He's a lock for 9th inning mop up duty.
How many minutes has Beckett been sitting on the bench during this huge rally?

I have never seen a meltdown of this caliber. If the Red Sox weren't the team benefiting I would feel bad for the Rockies.

Yeah I feel the same way. I kinda thought whoever wins game 1 sweeps the series. Red Sox in 4.

I don't know. I think the game might still turn on an error in judgement by a 3rd base coach.
Is this over yet? Are we there yet? When is it gonna end?
