I was just on my way to revive the Boxing thread, this is a great fight so far. If i would have bet, I would have laid money on Pavlik. But im saving my money for football tomorrow.

this fight is already 100 times more entertaining than Mayweather/De La Hoya

i got money for my mets tickets tomorrow now. woohoo!!

as a fan i wish the ref didn't stop it so quick. as a gambler, god bless steve smoger. i thought i was gonna be in rough shape after round 2. this pavlik kid is everything i wanted arturo gatti to be. jermain taylor i've felt was very overrated. his "draw" with winky wright was one of the fights that makes me hate boxing. i love that this kid put him on his ass and didn't leave it to the judges to fuck up.

i just heard lampley announce the judges cards, what fight were these 3 watching?

i had taylor winning 2 rounds and an extra point for the knockdown.

That was a great fight last night. Loved how the kid came off the canvas to get the win.

But he won't be champ for long, sadly. He's too upright, and not quick enough. Taylor had the formula, and frankly I thought he was even/winning the fight, and I thought that he would catch Pavlik with one of those bursts.

I will root for Pavlik again in the rematch, but it scares me. Taylor's going to look at the tape and realize how much faster he is.

Taylor had the formula, and frankly I thought he was even/winning the fight, and I thought that he would catch Pavlik with one of those bursts.

You could tell, though that Taylor's punches lost some of their zip after the third. Some of the bombs he was throwing in the first rounds, though, were unbelievable- I could feel the breeze from his swings in my living room. I have no idea how Pavlick made it out of the second. You gotta think that dropping a guy and then pouring on everything you've got only to see him put up a 100 punch effort in the very next round has got to eat away at your confidence.

On a different note- I've seen maybe four of Pavlick's fights and every time, I can't figure out how he does it. That straight right over the guard never looks like a particularly damaging punch. It just doesn't look that powerful. But I've seen him devistate at least three guys with that punch- and I mean knock them stupid. I don't get it.

As far as the cards go- the fix is in. I have no idea what fight those judges were watching. Taylor won two rounds, max. He was on his way to another head scratching victory, where he gets the shit kicked out of him for 10 rounds and somehow keeps his belt- just ask Winky about that. Or The Ex for that matter. Taylor's been outed as a propped up punk.

Glad to see him go.

I wanted to go to this fight badly but it was too close to my vacation to spend the money. I love Pavlik and I am happy he won. He is a great young fighter and I am looking forward to the rematch.
