It would be the equivalent of an NFL team benching its star QB the night before the conference championship game and then getting beat 28-0 despite being heavily favored.

Some of what she said was a little rough on the other goalkeeper, but she had a right to be pissed at the coach. I think she gets a "pass" because the BIG fuckup was what the coach did, not what she said. And almost no one cares about women's soccer.

I've watched most of this World Cup and I've enjoyed it a lot. Soccer is one of the few sports where the gap between the men's game and the women's game is negligible. If soccer could ever catch on here it would be one sport where women could actually have a comparable and successful league. Too bad. They're still gonna give it a try again in 2009. I'd be surprised if it lasted longer than the XFL.
