Anyone else pick this shit up?! It's the motherfucking bomb baby! The CD is full of full length versions of the songs from the cartoon. I wanted the Deluxe version but could only find the regular album last night. Motherfucking shit music stores around here only ordered a few thinking it's a novelty CD I guess, and they're all gone now. Get more in shitdicks, there's interest in this stuff!

It's really well done. There's a buttload of actual Metal artists who lend their talent to the show and CD, but just the guys doing the show seem to have it down pretty good.

Check it out bitches. I am rocking it right now.

I'm not a big death metal fan (I prefer Iron Maiden or Pantera and the like) but I love this album. I had a few of the old versions of the songs from the show on my iPod and I was blown away by the new arrangements of Awaken and Birthday/Dethday. Definitely worth checking out if you're in to heavy music at all.

Gotta give a lot of the musical credit to Brendan Small. He was rocking the funny way back on Home Movies.

Moe, I was always curious what you thought of this show whenever I catch it. It's obviously ridiculous, but the guys that make it are self-professed metal fans, and I always read shit online where people really into metal are talking about how they're impressed with the music on the show.

Now that I know Moe likes the album, I might pick it up! I am not even into Death Metal all that much, but I love the show for some reason.

Good to hear they did the CD right and didn't just phone it in. They could have easily just taken the songs directly from the show track and put it out. Glad they did it right!

What is the difference between the regular and deluxe versions?

Apparently there's a second CD. I wouldn't hold my breath on being able to find it. I assume it's somewhat rare because there are only 2 available through Amazon vendors, and the cheapest on is $250 (http://www.amazon.com/Dethalbum-Deluxe-2CD-Dethklok/dp/B000UGG396/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-1749689-2907949?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1190988659&sr=8-1).

Ebay has one, and it's going for $60+ right now. (http://cgi.ebay.com/Dethklok-The-Dethalbum-Deluxe-2-CD-Rare-OOP-NEW_W0QQitemZ120166472616QQihZ002QQcategoryZ307QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

There appear to be lots of torrents of it out there though.

Yea, I found the torrent, but I don't like to do that. I want the actual CDs, but if they're being stupid and only releasing a very limited amount of deluxe versions, I don't feel as bad about downloading the extra shit.

I love the fact that it shows the #1 band of all time being a Death Metal band. Sure, I don't like that they're all bumbling assholes and everything they do ends up going wrong, but hey, there wouldn't be much of a funny story if they just played killer shows and went home. Plus the more death, destruction and mayhem their epic apperances cause, the cooler Dethklok and their fans think it is.

Moe, how do you feel about the best selling Death Metal album of all time being a fictional band like this?

(Yes, I know the album just came out and there are no sales figures, but it's my guess that this is going to be the first death metal band to crack the billboard charts)

Death Metal Moe
09-28-2007, 09:23 AM
Obituary has already cracked some charts way back when. But hey, it's actually good music, so I wouldn't care that much.

Yes, it would suck that hard working bands couldn't get the notice of the masses, but what are ya gonna do?

I wasn't trying to imply that there are no sales for death metal, but with the [adult swim] push, I think that it will blow them out of the water because it will hate the college and high school students in a way most death metal bands don't.

I've been rocking this CD out for days now. It's pretty fucking good. Liking "Go Into the Water" a lot. Good fucking tune.

This CD is easily as good as most Metal releases I've heard. Lots of good songs, a few marginal ones and all of them tie in with the cartoon.

This one is an iPod classic already for me.

That Limited Deluxe Edition isn't so limited anymore. I saw a shitload at Hot Topic the other day. Is this thing really that good? I trust Moes opinion on all things Death Metal but I don't know, cartoon related music just makes me suspicious.

If you're not into the show Fluff the bonus disc may not be as important to you. It's got, if I remember correctly, 4 additional full songs from the show. But other 2 tracks are the original "Duncan Hill Coffee" jingle and a skit at the end of the band trying to tune a guitar in the recording studio. I found them well worth getting the Deluxe Edition, but you may just want to get the regular album.

Now that I've had it for awhile, here's my honest assesment of it.

The guitar work is top notch, overly technical in parts but done so well it's had to believe this isn't a road musician who's done years of world touring.

The vocals are on the weak side. Not a lot of power behind them, he's got that "Evil whisper/growl" thing going on which if it's your bag, he does well. The guy's not a vocalist, he's a guitarist.

MOTHERFUCKING GENE HOGLAN ON DRUMS!!!!!!!!

These songs did, at times, sound rediculous with a drum machine when they played them on the cartoon. But with an actual human doing things a human body can actually do instead of tempos only a computer can produce, it adds the extra piece to complete the musical puzzle. Plus the man is a robust GOD amongst mere mortals such as ourselves.

Any other players of note on it?
