I like this little spat. I'll go ahead and side with Spoon on this. One, because, and I'm not sure it's intentional, I love the band. Two, this Kevin dude can't seem to objectively judge hockey in that he is an absolute homer. Not that I am not, I just like to point it out in others to make myself feel better. Plus it looks like my Pens may play the Rangers next round and this sets up a the perfect opportunity to establish a meaningless internet fight laced with vulgarity and unneccesary hate.
Cheers

Actually the second line is carrying the team right now--Semin, Backstrom, and Laich are in the positive for +/-, while Ovechkin and Federov are minus. Hell, the checking 4th line got the first two goals in game one. All Ovechkin did was get the game winner at the end.

His play directly led to goals #1 and #2, he was in the box for #3 and he was on the ice for either the 4th or the 5th- I can't recal.

he certainly did get fuckin' schooled on number 2, the third one wasnt his fault tho, that call was complete bullshit.
and yeah, he was pretty much invisible after that, he seems to play really lazy at times, not moving over quickly to get in position , just sort of gliding over (cost them twice that i can think of), maybe they all do it and i only noticed because i was focusing on him, but it seems to me that i was only focusing on him because it was so noticeable hehe.

What I meant to say was that it's the Defensemen's responsibility to try to clear the front of the net, but usually us forwards are far too tough and have more heart. :bye:

Hi, goalie here.
It is the goalie's responsibility to have a sight line to the puck. Doesn't have to have eye contact with it, but know it's general location.
For some reason he was looking in completely the opposite direction. Rebounds are about geometry, and he was looking somewhere that the puck wasn't.
That being said: I don't fault him for the goal where he got taken out. That's not his fault. But he lost track of the puck. Maybe because he was in the splits.
Not completely the goalie's fault, but Huet did set himself up for that goal.

that explanation i can accept. he did stop the first shot. and wasn't in great position for the rebound, it was just the way you said it rested solely on huet in your first post i disagreed with.

Not completely the goalie's fault, but Huet did set himself up for that goal.
Tenbats makes some fine points here (man did that sting), but on plays like that it's not exactly one player's fault over the whole team. However, Huet got fooled by the shot soo badly that he was lucky to make the original save as he wasn't even close to seeing/feeling the rebound let alone controlling it. The Caps are getting stronger but without Federov they never get to game 7. That was a great move that they need to lock up moving forward. And Green might be one of my favorite young blueliners! What a shot.

I'd put heavy money on Scary Gary and Avery getting into a dust up or two.
By the by, Pens in five, Montreal in the same over Philly. I'd comment on the West, but I know as much about that conference as Earl does producing.

Clarkson did. I beleive it was game five and Avery just skated away. There was a scrum along the boards and Avery skated away.
But, I'll let this go. The fact remains, Avery and his antics helped his team advance. So I'll now wash my hands of this matter.

That last sentence... come on man. [I]You're[I] (that's how it is spelled) better that that, or so I thought. I think I acknowledged you giving me my deserved credit. That was my point. Your preemptive pat on the back came off cunty. This is the playoffs, you shake hands at the series conclusion, not during. A front runner? I was born and raised here in Pittsburgh and have recently returned to my hometown. I don't need to prove my loyalty to the Pens. It's just a non issue as they have and always be my only team. So, as I said, well I hope, you're better than that.
You getting nervous? Like Avery when saw Gill and Georges ready to literally squash him as the game ended and he lost yet again. Seriously, how scared do you think he was/is now? Now is when you respond with how that goal should have counted and how Crosby dives and Avery somehow doesn't. It will make you sound tough.
This series doesn't go more than five.
Maybe we should just start the Cup Finals now

I loved how the Penguins swarmed Avery at the end of the game. Good shit. That's how a team sticks up for their goalie. Take a lesson Devils...
Back in the day the Rangers had a scumbag named Ed Hospodar who used tactics similar to Avery. One of the happiest moments of my hockey viewing life came when Clark Gillies of the Islanders absolutely obliterated his face. He broke his nose, jaw, and knocked out half of Hospodar's teeth in about 5 seconds.
Hopefully the same fate awaits Avery.

2008 Alternative NHL Awards (calm down randy, it's not THOSE type of alternative awards).
http://msn.foxsports.com/nhl/story/8085826/The-2008-Alternative-NHL-Awards
Boarding: Usually the haven of lumbering, slack-jawed knuckle-draggers who aim to intimidate opponents, this year's crop of bellicose boarders included a number of smaller, workaday checking forwards like Todd Marchant (3) and Kris Draper (4), who tied for the league lead alongside defenseman Andrej Meszaros of Ottawa. Based on the fact that he's obviously working through some "issues" since being so viciously boarded by Claude Lemieux in the 1996 Western Conference finals, the award goes to Draper for 2008.
Ahahahahaahaha! And to think Draper cried like a bitch about that and then goes out and does it all the time.... Or perhpas he's ALWAYS been a douche and got what he had coming to him!? Ahahahhahahaha!

Oh and the wings should get a penalty anytime the fans throw one on the ice after they ice the puck and are dead tired. It's fucking bullshit and it happened AT LEAST three times this series already! Fucking cheaters.

Come on guys, I am for rubbing it in on Spoon as much as anyone here, but you have to be fair.
Forsberg may have been the BEST all around talent ever. And as far as him being a pussy, well that is the total opposite. The man was too tough and too reckless for his own good. Had he been a pussy like some players, He would have been up there with the all time greats, not that he has not had a great career, but much better. He went at it full speed 100% every game. And because of that, he got hurt alot. I compare Forsberg to Mantle. Maybe the best talent ever, but injuries really prevented both from having the career they should have. Be fair guys.

You know i love you Greg (No homo) but You are talking crazy. Forsberg was the best combo of speed, power, shot and toughness i have ever seen. If he was not hurt so much no telling what he would have been.
Nothing Against Stevie Y, But Forsberg had special Talent.

You are insane. Forsberg was good, but to call him one of the best ever is lunacy.
For an all-around player, I'd take Mark Messier, Brendan Shanahan, Bryan Trottier, and even a lesser talent like Doug Gilmour over Forsberg any day of the week.

The main reason the Avalanche are losing is because they are sitting on a fossil as their leader and a CUNT named Forsberg.
Lets face it, he has always been a puss
you have no idea just how huge of a pussy Peter Forsberg is.

he is a jerkoff of epic proportions.
and an overrated player on the ice, as well. fuckin swedes.

Yeah I heard this about Pavel Bure, Pierre Turgeon, Mats Sundin, Eric Lindros. What happened, never lived up to the hype. Forsberg was good for four years. Why is he back in Col.? Philly and Nashville wanted no part of his soft game. Kev, I will even go as to say that Jagr is tougher than him.
EDIT* Ok, I will give him a 7 year period of being good. Still not best talent

Again you are all missing my point. He isnt the best PLAYER ever, but he maybe had the best TALENT ever. Those guys you mentioned had speed or power, or a decent combo of both, but Forsberg had an unbelievable combo. The reason why he has not put up the stats he should have was because he was always hurt, and it was because he played too hard and too reckless for his own good. Stevie Y has about twice as many goals and assists as he has, but he played for 21 years and over 1500 games, where Forsberg has played 11 years and 706 games. If he stayed full healthy his who career, he would have near 500 goals and a ton of assists.
You are a hockey player Boss, when you are hurt and come back, it takes a while for you to get your legs back and be the player you are. And if you keep getting hurt, it keeps getting harder and harder to come back. He was really never allowed to be the player he could be. Now you can say Stevie Y was a better player because he was more durable and smarter than Forsberg, but i do not think he had his talent.
You can not question his toughness, he tried to play through a shit load of injuries, which led to more injuries. He came back from shit that would end alot of lesser mens careers.

Pat Quinn only plays guys over 40 years old... he's out
Bob Hartley is surviving off the successes of a stacked team from the 90's... he's out
John Totorella is a career killer for superstars and the locker room in general... he's out
That leaves Pat Burns. He's rested, rejuvinated and would love nothing better than to regrow the moustache and destroy the fucking Leafs.

Murray's not goin anywhere and Hartley is the only one who won't have the pull to be angling to make GM decisions so that's defiantly his job security choice.
Problem is they need a strong father figure right now to rein in their fragile adolescent mental state. I'm pretty sure Quinn or Totorella can do it but I'm not sure about Burns.
They say the veteran thing is Quinn's hangup but he just coached the junior gold team and Murray's great at grooming the minors so if they can get along it would be a great combo, I'd be exited to see it. Then again maybe it's just because Cherry likes him and it would give ottawa the Coaches Corner advantage.
Either way I'm happy there's so many decent choices out there right now.

1) Gvac posted my reasons bc I've told him them during game fucking #1. Stop trying to act like you came up with those out of the air you red winged cunt!
2) I used to respect Boss's hockey knowledge, but to say Forsberg is soft, terrible and only had 4 "good" years is comical. He's still 4th in points per game EVER in the game and played in the clutch and grab era. In fact, even this year coming in at the last 6th of the season without any camp he was second in pts per game only to OVECHKIN. This far from "96" with all the issues with his injuries, he's still a dominant player when out there.
3) Friday can suck my ass bc she doesn't even know how to spell Detroit and my friend dated u and said ur an ass but I still like you.

Let's just pretend the likes of injuries to Svatos, Clark, Forsberg, Hannan, Smyth, Stastny and Wolski had NO impact on this series. The injury issue with my teams absolutely make me crazy. But hey, 7 starters with out multiple if not all games is easy to fight off with the worst coach in the league. Hell, their replacement have been Hlinka, McCormick, Hensick, Finger and worse so go Lake Erie Monsters!!!

The rangers are playing like they have shit in their pants. The penguins arent that good, sure theyre quick but fleury sucks. No rebound control. Lets go, wake the fuck up and realize that you should be wiping the floor with that douche Lemieux.
Am I wrong?
You are completely wrong. I love how everyone is saying the Pens "aren't that good..." Fucking 7-0 this post-season. Fleury sucks? Best save pct. in the playoffs, second in GAA, and has two shutouts in just seven games. And again, is undefeated. So, are you wrong? Entirely. With this argument, I'm guessing you're wrong about a lot of things. Douchebag....

All the hype can be on Crosby but Malkin is the way better player.
You're right about Malkin getting very little hype, (many think it is due to his inability to speak English) but way better? Let's not get out of hand here. Sid was injured a good amount of the season, but he still had a better PPG (admittedly not by much). It may be arguable that he was better overall this season, but way better? No way.

more on Avery:
ESPN.com news services
Updated: April 30, 2008, 12:25 PM E
TheNew York Rangers said forward Sean Avery suffered a lacerated spleen in Tuesday night's Stanley Cup playoff game.
The team announcement came as the New York Daily News reported Avery had been taken to a Manhattan hospital in cardiac arrest, citing unnamed sources.
The Rangers said Avery was admitted to St. Vincent's Medical Center following a CT scan and is expected to make a full recovery, but he will not play again in the playoffs.
Avery was unconscious and not breathing, the Daily News reported.
A source at St. Vincent's Medical Center said Avery, 28, arrived at about 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

I fear Malkin more than i do Crosby, not saying Sid isnt a damn good player, but Malkin is better. He carried that team when Crosby was down scoring at least 2 pts a night, You did not really miss a beat when Sid went down, I am not so sure that would be the case with Malkin.

Much of this hypothetical and subjective, so it's really not a discussion with a correct answer. But I'll have to respectfully disagree. Don't get me wrong, Malkin more than picked up the slack in his absence but I think it just showcased what most in Pittsburgh already knew. His success was also due to the entire team elevating their game, namely Sykora, Malone and a few others. I'm just not ready to say that Malkin is better. Inside sources have reported that Crosby still isn't even 100 percent, that he suffers occasional swelling and such. Still, he has easily been one of the most impactful players in the post season. When they both play together entirely healthy, Sid has been just a hair better. That's not an indictment on Malkin, just that he happens to be one of the best players in the world playing with another one of the best players in the world.
By the by, I have to say I'm pretty shocked my the series. I know I was cocky, but I really wasn't sure that we were going to be able to entirely match up with you guys. And frankly, I don't even think that the Rangers have played all that poorly. We've just been a little better.
