^yeah, they looked like they were shorthanded for the first 6 minutes of OT, pretty amazing that they got the win.
i will be happy to eat my words later but it seems obvious that the bruins need a herculean effort to eke out a win against the habs, i do love rooting for the underdog tho.
it certainly would be a nice bit of excitement if they tied it 2-2 on tuesday ;)

I think the Bruins are a good team and a lot of people underestimate them. The Habs are great and all, but I think that they are beatable. I don't think this series is out of reach for the Bruins.

Such a bullshit hockey move. You see that shit in pee-wee hockey, and then the coach tells the kid that's not how the game is played. Avery is just a douchebag who made himself look like the bitch he is.
And the only reason he scored that goal as because of the INTERFERANCE that Shanahan provided.
But I digress...
DEVILS IN 6!
You have to be the worst hockey fan ever, And you are 2-1 down at least say 7.

Not at all. That's a real shinny tactic and Avery got repremanded by the refs because it makes the game look bad and it's immature.
And no, I picked the Devs in 6. I'll gladly take them winning in 7, but before it comes to that, I stand by my pick.
And if you meant I'm the worst hockey fan because of my pick rather than my Avery comment, than disregard it. Just covering all bases of that post.

No. I think Avery's instigating is what makes him such a valued commodity. I respect him in that regard. But that shit in front of Brodeur was bullshit.

There is instigating like Avery or to a larger degree of that scumbag Tie Domi, but doing what he did is beyond any code that players have. No there was no penalty, but that is because not one sane hockey mind could fathom anyone doing that. It is a clear interference and is a scumbag move. And yes the Devils had a big one in Claude Lemieux, but he never made the NHL make a rule change mid playoffs

What's even more hilarious is the response around the league, i've heard several players call Avery an idiot for what he did and other say he acted like a 7 or 8 year old kid. Those are def. the kinds of players i want on my team, the ones the rest of the league considers moronic children.

They had me pissed off for the longest, they had Knicks up on the Celtics at the half, and my Celtic fan friend said the game is already over and C's won.. Which i was happy about.
First the Reds get swept by the Pirates and now I have to watch the Wings give up 2 goals in 9 seconds and lose a game they should have won?

Hmm. The system that nearly killed hockey...
The same system that the Rangers are using against the Devils? The reason the Rangers won those two games was because they played Devils style hockey.
The Devils didn't and they paid for it.
And I have heard NO ONE stand up for Avery on this. Just goes to show that real hockey players don't stand for that shit.

Thats the problem...you CAN'T fight him, because of the instigator rule...its an extra 2 minute penalty
The instigator rule needs to be repealed IMMEDIATELY...its just dumb, and it prevents the players from policing themselves

What a great game for the Flyers. The fucking beautiful penalty shot by Richards was just icing on the cake. Ovechkin should be ashamed of himself for that Crosby like dive, and then acting like he was hurt afterwards because he knew how bad it was. He's too good of a player to be pulling shit like that.

any kind of flopping/taking a dive pisses me off, whether its my team or the other team, during the ncaa championship the BC goalie barely got touched after a whistle and he went flying like he got hit with a brick trying to draw a penalty. weak shit.
i was mostly rooting for them tho, that kid is awesome - he played every minute of every game this season for BC (freshman too). i would have been ok if ND won since it would have been such a big upset.

nice vid El Mudo. Ovech was absolutely tripped. I dont think it would've mattered Philly was rockin' last night.
That penalty shot was pretty smooth tho. Caps were outplayed on all levels last night.
So I don't think the clip was that big of a deal - when it came to the outcome of the game.
But I thought the Caps would have been a little more physical out there..at least after that -
Looking forward to Thursday.

First of all it was skate to skate, and then before he fell, he was trying to keep his balance on one leg for a second or two before doing an almost complete spin. I'm sorry, but the extra little turn before he hit the ice is what is so damning. Can I get a ruling from non Flyers/Caps fans...

I am a Pens fan, so I will respond. What more do you need to be impressed? Sure they weren't the same team, but there was never really a second of doubt in the series. That, to me, is impressive. Looks like we may have you next round. Are the Rangers a real team? I just don't want to get over excited when we beat you too.
Yes, i am a Ranger. Not saying you are not damn good. I am just saying, Play a team with a good D and Goalie and see what you are made of. If Flurey continues to to play like he did on rd 1, then you may be unstoppable. So relax sally, no need to get defensive.

Yah, it's amazing how QUICKLY the big NY team fans get cocky, especially the Rangers of all of them!! Settle down Kev, we all know the Devs aren't even close to as good as in the past.
Also, with the stars actually playing gritty hockey along with their norm on O, Fleury looking sooo much better and the likes of the depth they have right now, I'd rather play any other team in the East in the Finals if the Avs were lucky enough to get there. The only other team that truly scares me is Montreal bc of their goalie and history in situations like that (along with their play against a tough B team).

If Flurey plays like he has so far, then yes, like i said, they are pretty impossible to beat. But if not, i don't see them tough enough to withstand a hard nosed, grulling defensive playoff round. I mean lets face it, the Sens are a bunch of one demtional pansys. If their shots are not going in or if a goalie pays like Flurey did, they are dead.
If Henrick plays like he has inn the Devil series and we take stupid penalties like we have, then i do not see us going past 5 against the Pens. But if we play like we can, then we can certainly beat any team in the sport.

That's not it. You don't lack talent and finish with more points than the team you're playing against in the playoffs. They just are playing sluggish hockey. They started strong and then they let up. They make mistakes and they can't recover.

1-7 against the team they were ahead of in points. It pains me to say this. The Rangers are too fast and have better scorers. They let up because they are exhausted, and lack of talent leads to lack of heart. They have six strong players right now.

yeah that was messed up! its a miracle that didnt turn into a goal, not a bad attempt at a check tho for a goalie hehe.
for those that didnt see it - the puck was trickling down the boards with an anaheim player racing for it alone, turco came out of the net and got to the puck at the same time right about the top of the circle at the boards, he put a bit of a hit on the guy and tipped the puck away but then he went down and the anaheim guy got passed him and got a shot off, luckily a defensemen went down and blocked it with his shin tho.
crazy play.

I'd love for us to pick up an offensive weapon in the offseason as well. Maybe someone like Mats Sundin. He would fit into the Devils style of play well I think.
And yes, don't make Marty become a shell of his ability by playing him as much as he plays. Also, him getting hit so often obviously didn't help. Water under the bridge.

Depending on how far the Pens go, I doubt Hossa will be out on the market. At least, if I were the gm of Pittsburgh I would lock hm up. And Mats is older, but he's still a force. Have him on a line with a scorer like Elias and I gurantee the results would be good.
And yes, Marty does dish out. But that's usually because of the contact he receives. Considering the way he was hit in this series, I'm surprised he didn't lash out more.

Well thats just being cheap.. You guys had pleanty of cap space and were moving intot a new place. You guys had to sign either Gomez Or Rafalski, esp Raf. With an aging goalie, thos are wierd moves.
And like Mudo said, no way the pens can afford Hossa. Malkin is going to want Crosby money and Staal is going to want top D money. In the cap era, no way they can afford. Unless they win the cup, that was a dumb deal. The dealt away possible great young Defensman in Angelo Espasito a #1 and another guy. They basically delt 2 #s and a good player for him. They BETTER win this cup. Or its a awful, awful deal.

No he wouldn't. There are certain codes of conduct that hockey players follow. There is a need for players like Claude and Sean. But, there is no need for the shit that Sean pulled. No one defended it in hockey, minus a few team mates. It was disgsuting. An embarassment to the league, who God knows doesn't need negative publicity.

After picking up Hossa, the Pens front office reiterated that they intended to keep him well beyond just this season. I'm not saying that it is definite by any means, but I would be a bit surprised to see him go. No way they will part ways with Fluery. Malkin and Gonchar I am not sure about.
There is NO WAY IN THE WORLD they will let Geno go....
1) he was their best player this season, and he's a pure goal scorer, which Crosby is not...not a knock on Crosby, but Geno's the goal scorer
2) He's going to be an RFA cause his rookie contract's up, and they better lock him up quickly before someone else sets the market on him and they have to match something ridiculous (see the Ducks and what they would have had to pay Dustin Penner or the Sabres and Tomas Vanek)
3) he's EASILY one of the top 5 players in the lig...no way they will, nor should they, keep Hossa or Gonchar over him
Also forgot the Pens are gonna have to lock up Staal pretty soon too  ....that puts another dent in the "lets re sign hossa" party...management saying they want to lock up Hossa is their way of telling the fans that he's not just a rental player, which he clearly is...and they gave up a lot to get him....it wasnt a theft on the scale of the Flyers getting Coburn (who's a STUD) for Alexei Zhitnik's decaying corpse, but they gave up some good players for him in Armstrong and Christiansen with what will likely be not a lot in return (unless they win the Cup, then it was worth it)

oh yeah! what a finish, B's win 5-4!
this series deserved a seventh game, i can live with the result either way.
they were talking on WEEI the other day about how even if the bruins force a game seven and lose this will still be looked at as a bad season since they still will fail to get out of the first round of the playoffs.
i completely disagree, considering injuries and where just about everyone thought this team would be even if they were completely healthy - i already consider it a success, well unless they come out and lay a complete egg in game seven.
that goal by kessel to put them up 4-3 was a beauty, hardly finished celebrating it and montreal had it tied again tho lol (11 seconds later).

One of the biggest highlight goals in Caps history. I still go with Hunter's breakaway goal to beat the Flyers in 88 as the top, followed by Juneau's goal to put us in the Stanley Cup Finals in 98, Ovie's goal against Phoenix, Langway's goal against the Rangers, and Ovie's first goal against Columbus to round out that top 5.

How are the Devils possibly going to be able to sign hm with the salary he's going to want?
We couldn't hold on to Rafalski. We NEEDED him.
First off, the devils offered more then the wings, Rafalski just stated (and backed it up) that he wanted to go back home. What the devils (Lou) have to realize it that Marty isn't 28 and he DOESN'T have to play 70+ games to make the playoffs. Also, he can't just allow all their D ability to move on and not replace them on the open market. Sure they have a tough system to beat, but not when your D core is at a low level of talent and grit, as well as putting a tired goalie in net regardless of how great he "can" be.
He's not adjusting and it shows.

Way to prove it asshole. I seriously hate Avery. He could be a great player while still being a pest too. You don't have to be an asshole to play that role. Sorry, he's just a fucking douche. This isn't basketball, show some class.....just once. To not shake is a statement, to name call is fucking low class bullshit. In fact, Marty was run and hit by plenty of Rangers in that series (the norm in the playoffs to get a goalie off his game), and he shook their hands. This had NOTHING to do with physical play and EVERYTHING to do with the bs avery brings to the game. His own fucking team told him to go home in LA for the last 10 games or so a few years back. I have no ties to Marty or the devs, but it's clear to see that only the Ranger fans like this smuck right now....and that'll change very soon when he hurts them in a huge moment. I promise, it's coming. He a selfish cunt.

B's are going to go HARD after Hossa so i don't know if the Devs will spend enough
Again, the Devs offered him more then the wings. Also, Staal on Pitt is a fucking center so getting top D money is fucking retarded.
The Pens WILL have money to sign him since the cap is going up again, while they'll also shed some aging vet contracts. Just read the shit for once scifi Kev! Stay off the BDC yank blogs you re re!

If ur looking for a offensive D man, Cambell is the way to go. However, his D side of the puck is really lacking.
As for Blake, he's an addition type guy for a team missing that one last guy versus what he could bring to a team years ago. He still has a good shot, but look at his stats, he doesn't get it off as much, can't stay healthy and isn't the big hitter of the past. He would have been a GREAT addition for a team like the Rangers this year for example. He would have brought a top D vet to a young blue line who will need it SOOO much more agains a team with some offense (no offense NJ fans) like any left at this point.
Naslund is REALLY slowing down, yet the Canucks were only one line deep, if that. So ice was tight for him all year. I can't see him leaving if the Canucks offer him a decent contract and they actually go out and attract some O talent to help. I expect the Canucks to wake up and support that awesome D (ravaged by injuries this year) and top goalie.
Stuart, eh.
