They got Mike Smith from Dallas in the Richards deal. Many people think Dallas made a mistake in letting Smith go instead of Turco due to Turco's inconsistency (and complete suckitude in the playoffs). Smith's got a lot of promise, and actually, Kari Ramo didn't look very bad for them either down the stretch. Neither of them are Craig Anderson tho (from Florida)...that dude can PLAY


I'm scared that everyone's picking the Caps (except for Maggie the Monkey on TSN). I dont like being the "favourite".

And Spoon, I agree with Nashville over Detroit. David Poile teams never win stanley cups, but they win playoff serieseseses, and I think Detroit is old and overrated.

Huet def needed the help. That last bit of thievery that #8 turned into the GW goal is the exact reason that he should be MVP. Led the league in goals and gamewinners this season. I felt that Philly had an EXCELLENT gameplan as described by Laughlin. They tried to take away the people that PASSED to Ovie (Backstrom and Kozlov) instead of Ovie himself, which would have forced Ovie to create offense himself, which probably isnt going to happen in the playoffs. They put a LOT of pressure on our D early on, Greener especially (forced him into throwing the puck into the crowd, causing the PP that Briere got the 4th goal on). It almost seemed like that concept in basketball of "teams that press dont like to be pressed", because we are VERY aggressive on the forecheck in that regard. I dont know whether the Flyers just ran out of gas, or if it was like Laughlin said that the team seemed to have "found their legs". I just know that in the 3rd Period as you say, the Flyers had NO zone presence in our end.

Seemed like for a while the only guys that had showed up to play was the 4th line (Brashear, Steckel, Bradley) and they were GREAT last night. Can't say enough about how well that line played throughout the entire game. I do think though, that they played so well, that Boudreau was forced to play them more than he wanted to or probably should have, remember they were out there when Briere got sprung out of the box on that amazing shot over Huet's blocker from the off wing....those guys aren't exactly world class skaters.

the icing is the only thing i will really bitch about. Penalties and judgements, those go ayou at times everywhere, but the icing call was just inexcusable

The Philadelphia Flyers received some good news Saturday as forward Patrick Thoresen was released from Hospital.

Thoresen was taken to a Washington area hospital after being hit in the groin by a shot during the Flyers loss to the Capitals on Friday.

"My groin area is sore and swollen," Thoresen said in statement. "I can't really walk properly right now. It hurts."

The team originally feared that the injury was serious enough that Thoresen might have had to undergo surgery to have a testical removed.

bruins looked much better last night but you can tell that they cant do it for 60 minutes consistently against montreal, looking good so far tonight and it would be nice to see them get at least one win at home.

that tripping call last night was crazy, the only way i could imagine something like that getting called is if there was a breakaway or 2 on 1 going in, even then it was pretty incidental.

yeah the season series was no fluke hehe, the bruins never had a lead in a single game for a reason, they are really stepping it up the last two nights tho, and i agree that they need to get tougher, they have had their moments/stretches but for the most part its montreal making the big hits and playing physical.

i will probably root for montreal after this series, they are a good squad.
