Verizon FiOS vs. Comcast Bundled

I'm currently getting reamed by Comcast for my combined phone/internet/cable package. The new kid on the block, Verizon FiOS, has a bundled package for almost half of what I'm paying for Comcast. I have basic cable, no pay channels and one modem in the house.

Does anyone have Verizon FiOS? Can you let me know what you think of it because I'm about to pull the trigger on getting it, barring any negative reviews.

I'm pretty sure since FIOS is all digital that you'll need a box for every TV in your home. Depending on how many TV's you have, that could add up since I'm sure there's a rental charge for each box.

I know some people who have Fios,and they love it/ BUt I think that good rate is only for 2 years, but I'm not sure

I have recently set up FiOS and after some initial growing pains, i love it. The modem has its own router and I had some issues with the wireless devices in my house at first.

Its better now. The speeds are fast, the multi-room access to programs on the DVR is really neat and i like how the channels are clustered. Plus the picture is vastly superior to Cablevision.

My old roommate has FiOS in Maryland, and I loved what I saw of it. The internet was ridiculously fast. I downloaded some files from Usenet, and I think I was able to download a DVD in under an hour. Also, the HDTV quality appeared better than what I'd seen on HD Cable and DirecTV HD (no contest). He told me they weren't transcoding the streams at all, so you get the original HD streams provided by the channels.

Well, I am about to jump from Cablevision Triple Play to the Verizon Fios Triple Play.
Does anyone have any updates as to the quality, content, and speed?

I am getting the 1st 6 months for $89, then it goes to $119 for 2 years. (aboot what I am currently paying)
The real pain in the ass will be changing my main email with all my financial accounts.

What's the haps on Fios?

I have FIOS for my internet and I like it. It's as good, if not better, than when I had cable.

I have had nothing but Comcast and I must say if you can get something else, get it. Comcast is the WORST.

The internet is much better and more stable the comcast. Also, the TV is MUCH higher quality. the picture is better and the HDTV channels are never compressed, like they can be on comcast.

also, the on demand seems to be a little better.

I had the Comcast Bundle for many many years. Service turned to shit once they started doing their internet phone service.

I've had FioS Internet for two years, and I have had NO downtime and unbelievable speeds. HIGHLY recommended and the best around.

Recently switched over to the FioS TV service. I am very happy with the picture quality, but the lack of High-Definition On-Demand Content for pay channels (HBO, Starz, etc), lack of HD channels, and the clunky/soetimes unresponsive GUI for their service bothers me. They have stated they will have 150 HD channels on their guide by September, so we shall see.

I would do FioS internet and Comcast Cable, and eventually switch over to FioS TV also. Keep an eye on HD and OnDemand availability on the FioS service. That's what I soreley miss from Comcast, but not the high ass price they charge compared to FioS.
