I know this might sound weird, but I am in the US on holidays and want to get one of these when I am here. Especially since the Canadian dollar is so fricken good right now.

I am currently in Bar Harbor Maine, we will be traveling south as far as Kittery/Portland for shopping, then across west to Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo, Erie and all the way along the I90 under the great Lakes to Minneapolis and then up into Manitoba. We will most likely be traveling pretty quickly once we leave here on Friday so Minneapolis might be the only major stopping point along the way.
I have been looking online for physical stores to buy one and can only seem to find online places.

If anyone can let me know some actual stores where I might find one I would be forever greatful.

Well I made it to a Best Buy today and they wouldn't sell me an Inno. Seems that since i live in Canada and don't have a US address i couldn't buy one.
Apparently this must be a US only product. Since I don't have a US address to activate an account and they must not be able to activate them on my account in Canada. I suppose in a way this is a good thing. I was planning on buying one from Ebay so it saved me from spending $250 and then finding out it was useless to me.
I wonder if they are ever going to make these things available up here.

I'm pretty sure you can use an inno in canada. $250 is a crazy price for it now anyways. You can get it at myradiostore.com (http://www.myradiostore.com/xm-radio-receivers/pioneer-inno-gex-inno1.html?gclid=CKS7yvi8044CFQ8xgAodryn-4w) for $99 after rebates and they ship to Canada. You can contact them at cs@myradiostore.com if you have any questions. I bought a few radios from them in the past.

Please use this link if buying from MRS.

Thanks for that little piece of info Fallon. i was thinking that if i bought one when I was here in the states I would pay less in the long run. I figured i wouldn't have to pay duty or shipping. Exchange isn't an issue now since our dollar is up to 99 cents now.
I still need to find out about the address issue tho... At Best Buy they said they needed an address to activate the unit and the system would only take US zip codes and stuff.

Why do you have to activate it there at Best Buy?

Because bestbuy is queer? I'm a circuit city fan myself.

Are you seriously telling me that Best Buy makes you activate them there? Damn. That is queer. I'm glad we don't have one here.

I thought it was weird too when they asked me for that.
Actually I have noticed that almost every place I have bought stuff down here either asks for your zip/postal code or phone #. I have been refusing and when they ask again, i have been saying that I am from Canada and it doesn't really matter what it is. Thats when the cashier at Best Buy said i wouldn't be able to buy it because thy needed an address in their system and the system is only set up for US addresses.

Sucks to be them is all i can say because I was going to spend the money.
I also noticed that their prices on a lot of stuff was more expensive then home. The same laptop i got home at Future Shop for 899 is 1099 at Best Buy here.

Don't believe place that tell you they need that info. Radio Shack used to be the worst. For many years, they actually DID require a phone number, because some of the stuff they sold could be used for naughty stuff. They finally stopped requiring it, but they never bothered to tell the public. They just kept asking. They still ask, but if you refuse, they are supposed to ring up the sale anyway.

BTW... The whole annoying practice is now mostly used to help decide where they should build their next store.

Yeah i hate when that ask for that information. Some stores back home have started doing that but i have been refusing. I never really understood why they asked but i guess that does make sense PapaBear.

Frux, thanks, I wondered what their motives were other than junkmail. That makes perfect sense. I'm givin out 90210's from now on. I'm a badass.

Whenever I get asked for my phone # or my zip I tell them no and usally that ends it. If they say they need one to put in the regiater/computer I then say 908-555-5555 and they dont ask again. I would never give my real # to any business unless I wanted future contact with them.

That's bullshit. I bought my MyFi there and didn't activate it until i got home.
I want to apologize on behalf of America. Please understand, the mexicans took all of our good jobs so we end up working like dogs in stores like Bestbuy and have to lie to Canadians to make ourselves feel better about our position(s) in life.
Fuck it, wait for the merger and then you won't need an inno anyway, unless you're into hoo hoo.

The phone number/address thing is also so they can send you catalogs. I always decline to give my number. And if they say they need it, I just say 0. Either the cashier laughs or thinks I'm an asshole, but either way they put in a fake number.

I don't know why they needed your address for the Inno, since Best Buy doesn't activate the radio for you.
