I'm not sure how to take this, I've heard the stories from my parents, I've heard the stories from older coworkers, I've even heard rumours of this on the news and read snippets on the internet...

But I never would have thought I'd see the day!

Canadian dollar closes at $0.98 USD!

I've been tracking this over the last week, at the current pace I should be able to buy a new pair of shoes at half the price in 3 days!

How exciting!

WHY? Why is this happening? Seriously.

I agree! This is no place for Canadites! I declare war on Canada! Don't you think I haven't taken precautions... I have a car! Let's see some fuckin' Mountie horse catch up to that! I have also stocked my soliders with Labatt's and hockey pucks to distract the opposing forces. True, right now my soliders are green plastic army men, but they're doing a bang up job recruiting... rumor is that He-Man and Gumby will soon be signing up. And don't even TRY to blend in with us Americans, we can tell who you are by the way your heads flap up and down when you talk!

sorry

The thought briefly passed through my head to start a thread about the dollar parity. We're just so very excited about it up here. Seeing as how there are so few reds here I visualized how it might go and I feared a deadly loonie joke. And there it is. Our greatest weakness, that and the complete lack of a military, plus our gun is currently jammed as Ron noted.

And Hottub is a vicious anti-canuckian. Dangerous waters.

And to the others who fear the reds are taking over rf.net you have bigger problems, get used to the swarm of bargain hungry reds invading from the northern border. They're comin, and they're thrifty.

The news keeps reporting that our loonie is rising, but the truth is that the greenback is falling. The loonie really never moves, nobody buys Canadian money for their national reserves, they buy American money. And now they're selling it, lots of it. They're either buying gold or the euro. Bush asking congress for another 80 billion, and then another, and then another has a little to do with it, that and foreclosures.

09-19-2007, 01:39 PM
They are already coming, my friend. Too many license plates around here saying "Keep it Beautiful" and "Le' me Sovreins, Eh"

They are streaming across the border in their Windstars, with their silly money. Buying OUR Chineese imports. Damn your cold, beer-soaked hearts!

Then you saw the best Canada has to offer. I went there once on business giving training on some computer crap and couldn't have loved it more, It's small but the atmosphere and people make it happen. It's like Dublin light.

I attended the Lower Deck Pub's(a 2-300 year old pub or somthin) power hour of 1$ pints of kieths, I ordered 16 on a tray and was done for the night. I looked the part the next day and all the people I was training couldn't care less and were just happy I got to see the city properly. Oh it was grand.

I've had Carlsberg at Le Château Frontenac, and Bud at some sleazy Tit Bar in Montreal.
Le Blue splits by the gallon in Toronto, but no Canadian beer experience will measure up to Halifax. I even bought a case to bring with me from the local brewery. I forget the name, but it was tasty!!

It musta been Alexander Keith's, "The Pride of Nova Scotia". They got brewery tours there.

Chateau Frontenac? You should have had Maudite. It's 10% and its hostile aftertaste is matched only by the citizens of Quebec City.

Dear God, I hope not!

$1.00 USD = $0.98 CDN
(a whole day without a move! I'm a little concerned now)

And yes, I will be buying a new hockey stick when we hit equal. I will also buy a new track for my Ski-doo, a new welcome mat for my igloo and a new tip for my spear gun... cause it is almost open season on them bloody seals!

We get all that Unibroue beer here in CA. It's fantastic. Now, Trader Joe's has a Unibroue beer in their own bottle. It's like 4.99 for a 22 of delicious and strengthy belgian-style, about three bucks cheaper than the other Unibroues. One of my favorite parts of Canada is when you find a larger beer store that has the gigantic walk-in full of cases of every kind of beer imaginable. If only the pricks were open later.

I can't be mad at you. And besides, the power of Ramgots double sectret probation that was bestowed upon my by the likes of JustJon and Mikeyboy should not be abused. It went to my head, I shouldn't have done that... you sir, you are definately not a newbie.
