I'm in the market for a wireless card for my desktop. Are there any important key words or numbers I should look for in the descriptions?

Thanks

802.11g is the main standard for homes these days. Public access points are often 802.11b (slower/older). They still haven't finalized the 802.11n specification yet, so a standard 802.11b/g card will be fine for you. You can get USB or internal adapters.
