I recently moved into a new apartment, and we're too broke to have cable. Oddly enough, we DO have an HDTV. So my question is: Would you recommend an HD antenna? I wouldn't mind being able to watch UHF/VHF channels in HD for free, especially if October rolls around and the Yankees are still playing baseball...

Is it worth it? or do these thing just generally work like shit? and if they do work, which one works best?

Thanks in advance.

The great thing about HD reception is that it either works perfectly, or it doesn't work at all. I would try a regular amplified antenna at first, if you have one sitting around, and see how many channels you can pull in. My parents had an old set of RCA rabbit ears that get better reception than any other antenna my dad's bought since.

A friend of mine actually installed a roof antenna. Just like the old days.
Pretty good.

SHUT UP....I bought mine from Best Buy and gave 50 bucks for them. Thats why ya go beyond the front stocked stuff and find the previously opened items. They can come with a 20 dollar gift card in them at times!

Rube? I think not...smart shopper!!

We still have the rooftop antenna on our house. There's a public TV channel that Comcast stopped carrying, so we use the antenna to watch that channel. The picture on that channel is sharper than ANY of the cable channels. Even the digital ones.

Do you watch Cable 10 Friday nights at 10:30?
