Seriously, I could see Barry Horowitz and The Brooklyn Brawler getting lengthy title runs on ECW at this point.

I think another huge problem, at least for me, is that on that list of wrestlers what new matches really excite you. I feel like most pairings of the guys that are left out there just isn't worth me buying.

Yeah, it's pretty bad, because they've been so poor at building GOOD new stars over the last few years.

The immediate problems:
RAW - Outside of the three top guys, does anyone else on the roster have any storyline?
Smackdown - The Hardy/MVP segments aren't bad, but everything else centers around Khali which is horrendous
ECW - Outside of Punk, no one on this roster should be employed.

What's sadder, the low number of wrestlers or the fact that Mark Henry is considered a main eventer?

WWE just resigned him, again, too...sadly, I wouldn't be surprised to see a Mark Henry title run in the near future.

He almost got one right before he got injured last time around when a bunch of people were hurt.

Hell, if Khali can hold the strap, no one is off limits at this point.

Hopefully Taker will get his run again, maybe involving Edge for stealing the belt like he did. They both will be back in the next month or so.

As 8 pointed out, the money would be nice. As I pointed out, it's like a rat jumping on a sinking ship.

Eh, at least we'd sink modestly well off.

On the ECW roster I also like Nunzio, Cor Von, and Richards. I used to tivo through ECW to catch the CM Punk match but I have given up on WWE completely. Trying to catch up on NOAH instead.

didn't know where else to post this...looks like the WWE is about to get much much bigger.

World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. (WWE) announced a new international organization. Shane McMahon, EVP/Global Media, is expanding WWE's operations into London, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Toronto, and Sydney. The regional office in London will be led by Andrew Whitaker as President/Europe, Middle East and Africa. Carl DeMarco will continue to focus on expansion in the Toronto office as the President/Canada, Latin America and China. Jonathan Sully will establish WWE's headquarters in Sydney as the President/Asia Pacific.

So basically they're setting up territories around the world? Can an entire country be a territory?

Bring Back The European Title!!!

Section 8
09-27-2007, 09:35 PM
Looks like they may be going back to the old-school territories idea. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. It's almost like setting up a minor-league system, where they can take talent from each region and swap them to another region for a while so people can see wrestlers from other countries.

I'm sure that people here in the US wouldn't mind seeing some guys from Japan or Australia or Europe come over here while we send some of our wrestlers that aren't normally seen in other countries over and give them more exposure.

Also, there could easily be regional titles recognized only in their region, except for the World titles, which would be recognized by every region. For example Rey Misterio would be the Latin Americas Champion. Yoshihiro Tajiri would be the Japanese Champion. The territories wouldn't recognize each other's champion. However if John Cena, who is the World Champion, is touring Japan, Japan's region would recognize him as the World champ and would have contenders waiting to beat him for the title.

It's very likely to have a World Champ whose home region is not in the US, and who will travel the world, going from region to region defending the title, thereby making it a TRUE World title. It would make the World Champ coming to a particular region that much more exciting as he's not around every single show and not on every single TV show. Of course, if there is a World Title change, WWE would have to show the entire match, not still pictures, to ALL regions so all of the fans can see just how it went down.

I think that this expansion can be a very good thing for the WWE as it will infinitely deepen their rosters as they will now have hundreds, if not thousands of wrestlers in their employ once they get situated. If another scandal (steroid or otherwise) pops up, they can suspend whoever needs to be suspended, and bring up a deserving someone from another region to give them some exposure.

It would be nice to see if it pans out the way I laid it out here. It just makes good sense.

I like that thinking Section 8. Basically they could make it like it was in the 60's and 70's with the territories but on a global scale. It could work. But, just to play devil's advocate, back then they had a guy like Andre. You would hear about Andre but never see him until he came to your area. Now, if there was a guy like Andre in Sao Paulo, I can see his whole match on youtube an hour after it's over. I think it would be tough now to pull off a territories idea. I hope they do, though.

Section 8

But you have to admit that there's a huge difference in seeing an Andre the Giant match on TV and seeing an Andre the Giant match in person.

And I think that that would be the draw. Sure you see the guy on TV, but you say to yourself "I want to see exactly HOW BIG this guy is!" and you buy a ticket.
