The other day on O&A two members of the show discussed how they went to Disney on their vacations. I've also heard many people on this board mention going to Disney and how much fun they had there. I don't get it. I've been to Disney many times. The last few times it was very boring. All the rides are lame and the shows and attractions are cheezy and geared twards 2-13yr olds. I can understand if it was your 1st time there maybe being into it but other than that I cannot comprehend going to the place. So Disney fans what about it do you like? Whats a good Disney ride? A good Disney show? A good Disney Restaurant?

I think people are drawn to Disney as a way to recapture their childhood. Its hard not to feel like a kid when you're back in that park. At least thats how I felt when my chick and I went to disneyland last year.

I dont WANT to go to Disney
The Rides are Dull and its Way to Happy there
But wifey enjoys it... Gotta throw her a Bone once in a while
A true Foodie and Drinker will find ways to enjoys them selves
I was drinking and partying at the Clubs in pleasure island
I was also Eating really good food in 3 to 4 Star Restaurants...
Next Year when I go, i am bringing my Bro in Law
I will Golf 2 of the 5 Days
Play Basketball and Softball at their Sports Complex
Only Hit Epcot and Magic Kingdom, and Drink and partyEvery night.
Disney Can Be for everyone, its what you make of it

I don't know what to tell you. You either like it or you don't. I happen to love it there. The atmosphere to me is great and relaxing even though you're constantly running around, if that makes any sense. The thing is that in order to do it right you need to do your research. If you want to eat in a nice restaurant then you need to make reservations weeks or months in advance. There's a lot to do. More than you can ever fit in in one trip. Sure some stuff is sappy. There's stuff geared towards everyone. You need to decide what interests you and make sure that you make it to those things. If you wind up going to the Enchanted Tiki Room for instance, then the impression that you'll get is that the whole place is corny.
Hell, I know I'm not going to change anyone's mind. It's all personal preference. I like to think that I'm not a hayseed or rube but I love the place. We went in June and also went to Universal Studios. You'd figure it's the same kind of deal but it isn't. There's a whole different vibe at Universal. Everything is run-down, the attitude of the workers (ie customer service) sucks and the crowds are rude and surly as a result.

What's the difference between the 2 Disneys? The one in Florida and the one in California. Is one considered Disneyland and the other Disney World? Do they have the same attractions? Which is better?

The one in California was the first one so it is alot smaller. They have like the same stuff but crammed on a smaller piece of land. I've been to both and thought the one in Florida was better. My boss is a Disney freak and went to Euro-Disney as well.

OK. Not for nothing, but this post leads me to believe that you're not THAT familiar with Disney. Not that I think it would change your opinion any.
California has two separate parks: Disneyland (the original) and California Adventures. I think it has two hotels. It does not have anywhere near the same stuff as Florida.
Florida has four separate parks: Magic Kingdom (much larger version of Disneyland), Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, and Animal Kingdom, plus there's two waterparks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach), plus there's Downtown Disney (stores and restaurants), plus Pleasure Island (music, dance and comedy clubs), Add to that like three golf courses, Wide World of Sports Athletic Center and something like 35 hotels ranging in price from Value to Moderate to Luxury.

It's a great place to touch kids and punch Goofy in the snout. But I'd rather go to Wally World.

I went to Disneyland 15 years ago. They had smaller versions of alot of the same stuff in Disneyworld. Thats what I was refering to. Epcot, MGM, and Animal Kingdom aren't what I was talking about. Those I actually have less of a problem with. I'm sorry I should have been specific in saying I dislike DisneyWorld.

I've been to Disneyland when I was younger (on one of our trips, we went to Sea World and my little bro had the Mickey Ears cap and when he tried to look down at the Seals or Walruses (forgot- it was one or the other) his hat fell down into where they were at and one of them swam for the hat-- "Oh no! The Seals ate Mickey!").
What is California Adventures??? I remember visiting Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farms and Sea World. Never heard of it.

Been to Epcot and MGM (I think, get it mixed up with Universal Studios). Always wanted to check out Wide World of Sports.
Speaking of Orlando, been to the different Dinner Shows there (Medieval Times, Pirate Show, Dolly Parton show (forgot what it's called), and Arabian Knights. I've always wanted to check out the Capone Dinner show. Anyone been?

I was going to post some answers to your questions but I think Judge did a fine job. I do have to add Boma and Jiko to the restaurant list and the Jungle Cruise to the ride list. I think Lou will post tomorrow more on how he feels about Disney since he was the one to get me into it and to love it to the point that we had OUR WEDDING in Disney. It's not just for kids as most people think. Sure it does wax nostalgic for me and I love that part, but it is also for adults too. Animal Kingdom and EPCOT are geared more towards adults, because at EPCOT you can "drink around the world" and Animal Kingdom you can learn neat stuff about animals and see them in what is a nearly a natural habitat that Disney has created for them. We've gone to Disney so much that we've invest in Disney timeshare so rohat we can go even more. We've gone on 3 Disney cruises, one that went to the Mediterranean this past summer and also EuroDisney, not to mention DisneyLand. The best place in Pleasure Island is The Adventurer's Club, it's really a great place to hang for adults. I can't really explain it well so I hope Lou can do it better.

I noticed you didn't mention the Brown Derby. I remember it being really good. Did you try it? We are going in Nov. and would appreciate any info. It's amazing how much preplanning you have to do. How the hell am I suppose to know what I want for dinner 2 months from now?
