Sorry -

So mad they did a best of today - dude - why is everything about the east coast?

I guess they must have very few listeners not in the NY area - otherwise they would have figured out how to do a live show today -

as Ron said ' we don't care about the listeners, they already subscribed to the service'

that's ok - Ed Schultz is on Air America in the same time frame (just realized today)

Just want some Love in Chiaaaagggo - whore/jerk I may be

I know it sucks to not live near the events, but come on. The XM studios are in NY and DC. They can't exactly move the buildings.

I can understand Ron though. Its very rare that I even cross area codes for a party- thats a tough buy.
But also what would the turnout be at an event in say the Chi-town area - would it be worth it- Im just asking cuz I wouldnt know how many listeners they have in the area.

Yeah, I'm not flying out to FezPaul territory for a party, regardless of how fun it's likely to be.

Sorry -

as Ron said ' we don't care about the listeners, they already subscribed to the service'

JayT:furious::furious:

ron said that they don't need to use radio stunts to get people to listen, not that they don't care about listeners. whether they're listening to 202 or some other channel, the subscribers have paid for the service, so they don't need to drop a cliffhanger to get people to tune in to the next show.

Hey still down....I'm not doing anything.....I'd love to go do stuff for the show all over the place...not on my dime, plus a quarter for pay.

Kind of like a 20 bar crawls in 20 days kinda thing

you know what, that actually sounds kinda fun......kind of like a Diggstown Bar Crawl.

too bad n one knows who I am, in between the coasties.

A field of Dreams Bar Crawl...ok maybe 1 br, but still

Actually probablt 2, since the field is divided in half along property lines. I guy owns one side of the field and another guy owns the other.

Just look for me, I'll be old guy crying in the corner......Hey Dad, wanna Have a Catch:

Speaking of which,

for my Dad 9-7-69...RIP D.M. Hine...Love ya Dad...enjoy the beer

...you too Glenn, NYPD, gone too soon, enjoy your beer too.

I can say a new chip is worth having a beer with your dad and your old best friend.

I miss you both

My thoughts are: Suck it up - It isn't just you.

I'm in Philly and it's still a pain in the ass to go to anything Ron & Fez do. You have to drive hours either way, try to navigate a foreign city, pay for parking, pay for food & Drink, pay for accommodations, and have absolutely NOBODY care that you are there anyway because you aren't part of the R&F "elite."

In other words, it ain't just you. Almost everybody outside of the NY & DC Ron & Fez "family" is equally boned.

The Elite? Just who are they? Ive never met them, and have always had fun at the events I attended. ....seriously....who are these elite? Ya just gotta have the balls to come up and say "hey, I'm Matt from Philly"... I betcha someone buys you (and your lovely wife?) a beer.

The only elite I can think of would be Ron and Fez, and theyre always approachable.

Edit upon further reflection: Unless you were at the Christmas party...ok, there was an elite crowd there...they called themselves, "Opie".

even the fucking word "elite" pisses me off. Who is "ellite"? Mikeyboy? Justjon? Reilly? Wrong. Everyone at an event talks to everyone. get to an event and see for yourself or get over it. will there be a parade and balloons for you? no. will people ask who you are and get you a drink? yeah. at my first event, i walked up to BOBO and AKA and introduced myself. The night went up from there.

I hate to disagree, but I could disappear tomorrow and nobody would care. And this is not a "poor me" post, it is just a fact.

Most of us on here, even if we post regularly, could disappear and would not be mourned or missed. We are the "background players" that fill out the site.

Like it or not there is core of regulars that are friends of the show and/or can make events regularly that hold a special "status." Thats just the way things work in any group.

EDIT: Upon reflection, the term elite can be taken out of context and I probably shouldn't have used it. I apologize. However, the concept of an "in crowd" still applies. And there is nothing wrong with that. Those of you who can get together and know the guys have a "bond" the rest of us don't. And, I am happy for you! (not sarcastic).

And for saying that nobody will care if you attended, that is simply based on board treatment. I have never been able to attend an event and there is a good shot I never will be able to. That's just the way things work and what I was trying to get across to JayT - even people within "throwing distance" don't get to go to the events. However, because of that fact we will never be part of the board's "in crowd." Again, just the way things work. No malice, just fact.

Again, your previous posts implied that you HAD attended and were treated unfairly. Which is why I was surprised. I am not surprised, however, that having not attended an actual RonFez.net board event, you would ASSUME that is how it would be. I assumed the same, prior to my 1st appearance at one. But I was proven wrong by the warm welcome I received, first by just a few, then by a few more and so on. And then it was my turn to make others feel just as welcome as I had been made to feel.

RonFez.net is indeed a clique. But guess what? As a member, you are automatically part of that clique. Are you gonna sit with Ron Bennington or Fez Whatley your 1st time out? Probably not. But you will get to meet them. And you will get to hang out with some of the nicest people the internet has to offer.

Yes, I pay for XM - but I can cancel at any time -

Show us some love - and if you want to do a local show - do a local show - otherwise, what is the point of parties and get togethers when only the 'elite' can attend?

Whether or not Ronnie likes it, the satellite of Love is National - so you are doing a national show -

Ron and Fez are the best thing on late mornings - I take lunch each day to listen in my car, and even plug in my 'illegal' laptop into our work's network to listen because my work laptop blocks streaming audio -

We are here, We are (what did Fez say?), get used to it.

They took Friday off so Ronnie could do an Unmasked taping.

If you're not aware, Unmasked is a show that will be broadcast nationally on a little thing called XM Radio.

They took Friday off so two countries can get some radio gold.

Oh and By the way JayT, I know I'm not the first person to say this but you're not the only one.

There are plenty of people that live in Nevada and Tennessee and other states that can't make it to the events.

You also have to realize that they run a show everyday. Going away requires a lot of travel in a short period of time.

It's a national show, so you should be the one who realizes they can't go to everywhere.

The Ron and Fez events are based in NY because the show is in NY. Also, when they do a show in DC they'll have an "after party" in DC.

I mean, i understand the "want" of them to be at a town near you. I get that. I mean, I LOVE "the price is right", but will i get to be in the studio audience? probably not. I live here In Jersey...its taped in sunny California. Can i visit that show to participate in the goodness of Playing Plinko or a chance to win A NEW CARRRRRRRRR? yes!

Everyone at any event that ive been to has been nothing but kind. There is no "special treatment" everyone is treated equal. you drink, you laugh, you have a good time. Thats what its about.

While I live within throwing distance of NYC my life does not afford me the luxury of going into the city to attend any of the events. My wife would look at me like my dog katie does on occasion if I suggested it. You know that look a dog makes when they turn their heads a little sideways and look at you. Thats whatI would get from my wife and the dog for that matter if I suggested it. However I enjoy living vicariously through the after the event threads. Full of pictures and run downs of who did what and who. It brings the "events" home to my place in the country. Elitism does not seem to exist on this board nor the Buddays. I am always amazed at how much of a circle of friends the show has and is. To think that radio hosts plan and enjoy a social life with their listeners to the extent that they do never fails to impress me.

But as far as "world" influence, i would say that LA's TV and film industry overtook NY back in the Dumont(sp) network days.
