Laptop vs. Notebook

Can someone please explain what is thediffernce between these 2 portable elctronic devices? I know a laptop is a all encompassing name for many companies, but it is essentially a computer

Now with a notebook, this has only come to light for me, when my newest favorite stock in the whol wide world, SYNA ( they made the iphone touch pad before apple did and invented the circle or produced it on the original ipod). Well they announced that they are already been contacted by a number of customers to put the touch screen pad thing they invented in a lot of new notewbooks, as well as a few new smart / cell phones.
(ps...not a pump and dump, I own it andhave nothing to do with the company.I guess that was my disclosure)

so what is the difference?

Ditto - however I appreciate the article Papabear posted.

Most people use the terms interchangeably. Even tech sites will do it - for example; you can search for Notebook or PC Memory on Tigerdirect. Of course that means Laptops and Notebooks if you use the "definition."

I wonder if on the dell sites and HP sites, they always use them according to the definition.

i doubt it, manufacturers do not even have hard drive ratings down, they round up for that!

I think the computer Industry prefers the term "Streamlined" to "low-end." :laugh:

well it is the exact same thing exact it was changed for a reason.
The orginal name is laptop and it was changed to notebook to avoid users from using it on their laps. Using a notebook or laptop on your lap is bad for your sperm count and manufactuer's want to stay away with that image.

I've been fixed. So it doesn't fucking matter what you call it or where it's placed to me. In fact, downloading/viewing porn while it's in your lap makes for a warm experience, especially when the fan switches on. It's wonderful. Try it.
