Anyone remember The Thunderbirds? It was the inspiration for Team America: World Police. I saw an episode of this '60s "children's" show last night that included lots of puppets smoking, drinking, gambling and shooting guns at each other.
If you've got Cablevision and an HD box, you can see it every other night at 10PM on channel 722. The other nights they show UFO, another show created by Gerry Anderson but it has real people instead of puppets. Both shows also feature sets and props designed by Derek Meddings, the guy who did all the cool sets and props for the early James Bond films.
Anderson made several other puppet shows in the '60s, including Captain Scarlet. Now there's a new CGI revival of Captain Scarlet that shows on channel 723 every night at 9:30. It's a pretty dark and violent sci-fi/action show that has the look of a video game.
These are Voom channels. If you've got a satellite service that carries Voom, you can see them on the channels called 'Family room' and 'Animania'.
