Anyone growing up in the mid 80's harDCore scene in DC knows the brilliant & inovative guitarist Fred Smith.
Beefeeder, Strange Boutique, Madhouse, American Corpse Flower.

I was watching Fuse TV one night. Some show with Johnny Rotten as a judge and there on the boob tube was our buddy Fred! In the finals!
3 bands left. Million dollar contract waiting for them.

It's weird to see someone you know on tv "makin' it" - if anyone deserves to make it in music from DC, I'd have to say it's Fred. It's always been about making great music with Fred. Never sold out. Stayed true to his sound and himself and now he is finally getting some long overdue credit and exposure...and now hopefully a little $.

Tell me what you think of BLAXMYTH. I really like the vibe. The song "Set the Bomb Off"
caught my ear before I even knew Fred was in the band.

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE…
TO TREAD KNEE DEEP INTO THE ANTISEPTIC MAINSTREAM OF MODERN MUSIC …
SURPRISE!! BLAXMYTH HAS ARRIVED!!

Emerging from the grungy hardcore underground scene of Los Angeles, BLAXMYTH represents an alternative to popular, commercial music while introducing a brand new sound/style/genre/movement to the willing urban music masses. BLAXMYTH is the spawned, hybrid 'supergroup' originally formed by the late, great 'D-Roc, The Executioner' from the legendary band, BODYCOUNT (w/ Ice T).

Spiritually wounded by D-Roc's fateful passing yet moved and inspired by the brilliant, incomparable legacy he passed on, the band has reformed & reloaded with new management, direction, spirit, purpose and mission. This inventive dominant & rhythmic style is called "GHETTO METAL" (coined by D-Roc).

GHETTO METAL blends Heavy Metal, Alternative Rock, Hip-Hop, Rap, Funk, Blues and Thrash to create a unique, progressive sound that appeals to several diverse cultures/audiences. BLAXMYTH's live stage performances are acknowledged and admired by even legendary performers and has been described as "electric!" "spiritually uplifting!" "pure infectious energy!" "mind-blowing!" and "unforgettable!"

When I was a kid, the only music I listened to was rap. Come high school, I started listening more and more to metal. These days, I listen to a lot more of other kinds of music, but these two genres are still close to my heart.

That is why I always want projects like this to succeed. But I always seem to have the same problem with bands like Spade Ghetto Destruction, Bionic Jive, and now Blaxmyth. The music. It's not a huge problem that I have with it, I just that I think these bands would do better to update their musicianship. To me, they always come off sounding like some late-80's thrash band, and for some reason, the vocal tracks are always mixed up way over the music tracks. I would like to see a band like this put the musicianship on equal grounds with the vocals, and play with the technicality that is almost required by most of today's metal bands. Then again, I did only listen to that one song, so I'll probably come of like a real asshole on this one.
