It's about that time of year when I need to find something to wast massive amounts of time. I've done EQ and WoW, but I'm looking for something a little less life desolving. Always heard good things about Battleground2. Anyone out the playing a good MMO that they'd care to clue me in on?

I had to google "MMO" so I don't know of any.

Every 6-8 months I reactivate my City of Heroes account, play a lot for a month or two, and give it up again. It can be extremely repetitive, which is the big knock on it, but I enjoy it for those short periods of time.

After playing WoW for a few months now, getting to 70, then realizing there's only long instance runs and PVP to do, my suggestion is this:
Go outside instead of finding a new MMO.

And send your initial purchase and monthly fees to RonFez.Net. Be sure to occasionally send additional monies to RonFez.Net whenever you think you want to purchase an "expansion pack."

I'd suggest Gemstone IV. It's Text Based, but it's been around forever and its gameplay and story lines are excellent.

I enjoy Guild Wars every once in awhile plus no monthly fee which is great.
I gave up WoW along time ago after like moe, realizing it is either PVP or Instances to get better gear that you can do other instances and get better gear and so forth, i really miss end games.
I have heard the LOTR MMORPG is pretty good and I am still waiting for Age of Conan to be released

Same. I got the game last year or 2 years ago. Stop playing it for awhile, played it again 2 months ago and got the other 2 chapters.
I played Diablo 2 a few years back but the only thing that sucked was that if you didn't play for 90 days, you characters got deleted and you had to start all over.

I'm waiting for Warhammer. Mythic has a lot of PVP experience and should do well with this title.

I am also waiting for a real FPS MMO.
I was in the beta for LOTRO and it was polished, but for some reason it did not hit my happy button. It seemed nice.. Just nice..
I'm bored of WoW. Eventhough I have played for years, I'm not addicted enough to keep up with a real group of players.
You might try COH, it was fun for a little bit.
Planetside is pretty cool if you just want to shoot the shit outta a bunch of people and you don't want to grind on mobs.
EvE is very cool/hip.. It's a thinking MMO, and very methodical (slow?)..
DAOC is too far along to join now.. So is EQ..I suppose AO and SWG is the same too.

This is most likely what it will come down to. I can play a game for a while, but once the repitition gets to be too much, I'll just walk away.
I guess the main reason I asked about this is that once the ol' Minnesota winter rolls around, I always get the itch to dive into one of these games. It seems the only time I really get into these things is during my "dead season" between the summer and winter fishing seasons.
Somehow, staring at a hole in the ice and drinking beer always seems to trump searching some silly fantasy world for fancy new trousers and the whatnot.

That new expansion that's coming out is nothing but a panic button for Blizzard. Especially seeing how many people are planning on possibly ditching WoW for Warhammer when that comes out.
They haven't changed a damn thing except for increasing the level grind, a bullshit "hero class" that everyone and their dog is gonna play.
PvP sucks and Raiding is an absolute joke.
