View Full Version : Do You Make Your Bed Everyday?
Furtherman

I never make the bed.
I also don't care if someone comes over the house and sees the bed is not made, therefore, I never make it because it's just where I'm gonna end up that night.
But I know some people who make it everyday and will have a fit if it's not.

On weekdays, I'm generally gone to work before my wife gets up. Sometimes she makes the bed, sometimes she doesn't.

I never do. I'm pretty fanatical about keeping my home clean, but that's one thing I never saw the point in doing. Yeah, if my bed was randomly in a part of the house where guests were all the time, OK, maybe, but it's off in my bedroom away from everything else. The only people who are going to see it on a regular basis have already seen past my other crippling flaws to sex me up, so what are they gonna care about an unmade bed? That's by far the least of my problems.

i'm usually pretty lazy about it. and it's so hot, it's really just the two sheets anyway. ever since ronny said the only thing seperating us from the homeless was a covered mattress, i've been trying to at least keep the fitted sheet in place.

I can never even leave the bedroom unless the bed is made up first. My wife won't even make it up anymore because she knows that my OCD requires me to make it anyway, so she plays off of that. I know I need help.

That's the other part of it...two sides of my bed are against the walls and with as big as it is, getting the whole thing made is pain in the ass that takes a while.

I don't mind the throw pillows. They look kinda nice, and they're good for when you want to sit in bed and read or watch TV. I just can't figure out how to assemble them the right way.

My cat sheds a lot and sleeps on the bed during the day. So if I don't make the bed right after I get up, the sheets get covered in cat hair.
If I had no cat, the bed wouldn't get made.
Also, to the "only if guests are coming over" people, why are the guests going in your bedroom?

My bedroom turns into the coatroom when people are coming over.
It has halso been used for nursing, and sleeping it off a bit. The wife has put a lot of effort into making our BR a tropical getaway theme.
And yes. She has lots of little pillows on the bed.

i thought you just put a pillow inside the grill and slept in there.
you have to walk past my bedroom to get to the bathroom, so anytime someone is over they see it. i do it more for myself than for guests.

my mother always told me that the bed had to be made if i'm going to leave the house. that the only reason the bed would be unmade was if it was an emergency & she had to run out of the house in a hurry. so the bed gets made every day except for maybe on sundays if i am lying around all day. it just feels so much cleaner. plus i refuse to sit on my bed in street clothes if i'm not on top of the blanket. i won't go near my bed in street clothes if it's not made & that makes things kind of annoying because i have my computer right next to the bed, with no other desk chair.
a couple of years ago i woke up one saturday morning to go to work & everything seemed normal, even the fact that my parents weren't home. as i was getting ready to leave, my mom walked in & told me that she had to take my dad to the hospital at 4am, but she made the bed because she didn't want me to worry because it didn't seem that bad.

Slobs, but socially neat.
If the bed is going to be used as a coat check, you should have it made nicely, if only not to lose a jacket in a pile of covers.
Mom made my bed to as a kid, and then I was constantly yelled at to make it as I grew into my teens. I'd just throw the comforter over loose sheets so it looked somewhat neat. A half-assed job, much like when I have people over.
Ok I'm lying. I never have people over.

So As An Adult, F_S Never Makes His Bed; Eats Only Take-Out Or Standing In The Kitchen Eating Off A Paper Plate (So He Doesn't Have To Do Dishes); And Cleans On A Well, Hap-Hazard Basis.

Nope seems pointless when on a daily basis you're the only one that sees it and when company comes over we tend not to entertain guests in the bedroom.
Sometimes I don't make the bed for enough consecutive days or weeks that the bedsheets come off and I still don't make it, despite the fact I'm sleepin on bare mattress. Admittedly, the line should be drawn right before that point.
