You know something is wrong with a man when he charges the mound and not only BRINGS his bat but also uses it on the opposing pitcher. Call the police, he just killed any chance of a comeback (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/08/15/bc.bbm.offerman.batatta.ap/index.html)

I don't understand why you wouldn't always bring your bat when you charge the mound. You are already attacking another person at that point, might as well go all the way with it.

I hope he gets Jail Time, Noone has the right to strike someone with a bat...
Maybe Jose can share a Cell with Michael Vick

Good to know Matt Beech is still playing somewhere. I watched him play a long time ago when he was a Phillies minor leaguer.

And to be fair, every time I've been in Bridgeport, CT, I've also wanted to attack people with bats.

Sweet Jesus! What a psychopath...if Shoeless Joe and Pete Ross can be banned from the game for what they did, this spaz needs to be sent packing ASAP.

Sadly, as soon as I heard "Now batting for the Kansas City Royals" I knew that would not be the case...

isnt a baseball a weapon when a pitcher throws it at him on purpose? Isnt a hockey stick a weapon when you swing it violently at someone? I dont condone it but I have played baseball as a pitcher and throwing a ball at someone can do just as much damage.
He was hit intentional because the previous batter hit a HR. Pitchers need to stop hitting players because someone hit a HR off them. I never understood what that was about. Its a game sometimes you get someone out and sometimes they get a HR off you.

Wasn't a hockey player charged with assault a few years ago when he chopped someone in the back of the head?
With a pitched ball, it's so easy to lose control that it's hard to prove that it wasn't an accident when a batter is hit. It's not like this guy charged the mound and started swinging the bat at people by mistake.
Based on his tenure with the Sox, he would have swung at the pitcher and missed.

I must admit, I agree with the Ron Bennington doctrine and absolutely love it when someone completely loses their shit.

Juan Marichal would be proud.
Marichal (to dodger catcher Roseboro): Did you just have Koufax pitch behind me?
Roseboro: Yeah, just like I was pitchin behind your mother last night . . ."
and the rest is history
