mac is putting out a game conversion software that will make it very easy for companies to put out games for pc, mac, xbox 360 and ps3
it will convert a game between the formats, not on the fly so it will not work line an emulator software but it will make it much easier for mac owners to get pc and ect games made avl to them if they can find a publisher
very good news for me, the only game i have is wow and although it a great game, every once in a while i feel the need to stratagize and none of those games are really avl

One of the most important aspects of id Tech 5 is the fact that id wants their game and all other games that use the technology to run at 60 frames per second on all four platforms (PC, Mac, PS3 and Xbox 360..and no a Wii version of id Tech 5 is not planned). That means that if a developer uses id Tech 5 they in theory will be able to make a game that will be released on all of those four platforms at the same time and perform at the same frame rate (in practice that might not happen due to how Sony and Microsoft have to approve each game for their respective consoles).
id Tech 5 should also eliminate how artists and level designers make games using the engine. Usually developing a game means having to cut textures and parts of levels in order to have it work on multiple platforms. However, the new graphics engine should allow people to use the same art assets and all of the level design on all four of id Tech 5's supporting platforms. While Hollenshead told us that different platforms will still be limited in terms of polygon detail, the art and level design should not be affected.
Hate to disappoint you, but that's only going to apply to games developed with the Tech 5 engine, and even then, the developer will still have to decide to publish to the platform. Essentially, what id's done is create a graphics engine that will provide platform-specific optimizations for the developer, thereby simplifying cross-platform development.

with the complete lack of games avl anything that would make it easier for publishers to make the games would be an improvement
and surprisingly enough developers are really cool people and if they made the game with this engine and it wasn't openly released on that platform the creators might release a limited print of the other just for fans and gamers that dont want the other platform
I once was craving old school command and conqure and it didn't work on xp and one of the developers sent me the code.
unfortunately i had no idea how to use it
