Ive had a few small world experiences that were one on one, but the one I had at the Grand Canyon last week was really bizarre. My wife and I were sitting at the lodge deck along with 3 other couples. I was listening to the couple next to us describing to the third couple, who were German, that they lived in a small town in Connecticut. So I butted in and said "Im from CT too, what town?" Turns out he lived one town over from where I'm from. Then the couple behind us said that they were from CT, one town over from the first couple, which was also the town I moved to when I got married. All 3 towns have populations under 15,000.

The first PM I ever got on RonFez.net, was from someone who used to work with my mom. Neither of us knew it at the time, and we had both heard stories about each other, from my mom.
There's a bunch more, but life is just like that for me.

Johnny's playroom
Is a bunker filled with sand
He's become a small world man
Smoky Sunday
He's been mobilized since dawn
Now he's crouching on the lawn
He's a small world man
Soon you'll throw down your disguise
We'll see behind those bright eyes
By and by
When the sidewalks are safe
For the little guy
I saw the fireworks
I believed that I was dreaming
Till the neighbors came out screaming
He's a small world man
Soon you'll throw down your disguise
We'll see behind those bright eyes
By and by
When the sidewalks are safe
For the little guys
When he's crying out
I just sing that Ghana Rondo
E l'era del terzo mondo
He's a small world man
and thats all I have to add to this thread

I was at a conference about a year ago outside of Boston. First night in went to the bar of the hotel, struck up conversation with a couple of people, normal chit chat, introductions, etc. Next day in classes got teamed up with one of the guys that I had met the night before. BS'd during the day, hometowns etc. That night in the bar, about 20 of us there the guy asked me what my last name was again, told him asked me if I knew a guy named Tom with the same last name, I said yes it was my uncle. Turns out he's my uncles best friend. I had met the guy 20 years earlier visiting my uncle in California and helping him move. Bizarre.

1. I was dating a guy in Texas and telling a friend about him, and he had an unusual last name, and we found out that his father and her father are best friends, from Dallas, TX and Portland, OR.
2. When I was in town to visit R&F, I ran into a guy in Times Square who rides the same bus as me in Portland.
3. This week, my husband remarked that my best friend from college was bidding on one of his records on Ebay. This friend is coming to visit in two weeks and has never met my husband. He had no idea who the seller was. But they both really like the Stiff records back catalogue.

i was in paris a few months ago, and met some guys at a downtown bar. a few months later during the bachelor party for my roommate on that trip, i saw them walking down the street in little rock. falcon jet has a site here, and they're doing a rotation.
i also find it amazing that when i go to the DC area, i randomly run into people i used to share a dorm floor with.
oh, and i was in a bowling league my senior year of high school in Maryland, and i got randomly teamed up with this kid I knew in elementary school in Alaska. the military's good for that sort of thing

I was in Orlando at a random time of year and saw a guy from my town that I used to work with in line for the Men In Black ride. I want to say he was right in front of me and I didn't notice who it was for a few minutes.

I was driving on the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway two weeks ago on a sunday morning and there are very few cars on it. As I am going along, I notice that a minivan in front of us looks a lot like my fathers minivan. I comment on it to my wife and a minute later, I am pulling up along side it and I look over and it IS my father! I am honking and trying to get his attention, but he is oblivious. I try calling his cell and I see him fumbling trying to answer it, and he picks up and I say to him, "look to your left!"
Turns out he was going to the same antique fair I was, and neither of us knew it.

I used to live in a house in DC with a bunch of friends. My sister and her boyfriend came down to visit from Boston. When they came down we realized that one of my housemates was the cousin of her boyfriend.

I'm not even sure this qualifies exactly as a small world experience, but regardless it's the set of circumstances and coincidences that has shaped my life more than any other.
My wife and her twin sister grew up in Maryland 10 minutes away from me and I never knew them. I have a friend I've known since I was 8. We went to high school together. We dated girls from the same high school and same year as my wife and her sister, yet never met my wife or her sister.
I went to college in Pennsylvania. My wife and her sister were two years behind me and went to the same school. I met my wife a couple of times while in school, but that was it. I knew her sister a little better because I took a couple of psychology. classes with her.
I graduated and moved back to Maryland. Two years later, I had a party. A friend was visiting from Boston. She was friends with my wife and her sister (who had just graduated and moved back to Maryland), so she invited them to the party. My friend who I've known since I was 8 was also at the party. My friend from Boston and I kind of set up my wife's sister and my friend who I've known since I was 8.
My friend and my wife's sister didn't really know each other that well, so when they went out on their first date, they brought my wife and me along. My wife and I had no romantic inclinations towards each other at the time. We were just there to make the sorta blind date less awkward.
Anyway, it's 15 years later. My wife and I are married. My wife's twin sister is married to my friend I've known since I was 8, and we all live in Manhattan (in separate apartments).

This just happened to me today...
I was on a flight back from LA and there was a couple sitting next to me. Durring the flight I noticed they were from the UK, and I brought up I know a girl who lives in the UK I met in Alaska on vacation. We also got together again in NY a short time after our first meeting and have kept in touch through email since she went back.
Turns out this was her younger brother and his girlfriend.
How F-ed up is that?

Late last year I saw a friend I hadn't seen in a year or so at a store in a mall near me and we talked alittle and we both left. I then went to another mall about 25 miles away later in the day and in a store, and I felt a tap on my shoulder and it was her! We both lost it, was cracking up and we were like,..WTF??

Why don't you and the wife share an apartment? Save on rent and more sex.

F_S Loves These Kinda Stories!
A Few Years Ago It Was The Week Before Mom's Birthday And F_S Got A Catalog From A Company Called McKenzie That Sells Speciality Foods Like Smoked Salmon And All Kinds Of Desserts. One Item Caught His Eye: A Really Scrumptious Looking Chocolate Cake, So Fat Thinks "Mom Will Love This Cake".
So F_S Dials The 800 Number And Is Halfway Through Giving All The Info To The Ordering Department When The Woman Says "Why Are You Ordering This Again?" And F_S Says "What Do You Mean" And She Says "You Just Called 5 Minutes Ago To Order This Item For Your Mother".
So As It Turns Out, Fat's Brother Had Also Gotten The Same Catalog, And Selected The Same Product, And Had Ordered It For Mom 5 Minutes Before F_S Called!
What Are The Chances Of That?!

I have another good one and a pretty creepy one.
The good one... I went to visit a friend at her college. I was talking to a couple of her school buddies about going to beach as a kid. One of them not only used to stay at the same cottages in Virginia Beach, at the mouth of the Chesapeake, he remembered the giant robot made out of car bumpers that was nearby, and he had a crush on the same hot chick that I did. She was a relative of the cottage owners.
The creepy one... Not long after I moved to NC, I was showing my new friends all of my photo albums. This one girl looked at a pic of a guy I knew, and said, "Oh my God. That's Jamie. He tried to rape me!" Jamie used to go to college down there. I knew he had been kicked out, but I didn't know why.

forgot about this one,..it's weird how amazing coincidences get recessed in our memories.
Having lunch with the CEO of our agency, he said he used to live in Ca. in 1990-1994. I said I also did, but stayed longer.
He said he lived in Costa Mesa, I said I lived in Costa Mesa at that time.
He lived at the Villa Venetia Apts. I lived at the Harbor At Mesa. The complex right next to his.
He said he used to jog everyday, ...at that point, I recalled seeing him, or seeing someone that looked just like him occasionally jogging. But in hindsight it had of been him! *an hours worth of revelation ensues*
And then... he moves to Huntington Beach (next city over). I move to HB.
He buys a house on Newland Ave. ME AND TWO FRIENDS RENT A HOUSE ON THAT SAME NEWLAND AVE. We lived on the same street about 1000 feet away.
This all took place between the years of 1990-1994. I started at my company in 2000. This discussion with him took place last year.

She Pretended That She Did, But It Was Discovered In Her Freezer 3 Or 4 Years Later, With Only A Tiny Piece Cut Off.
F_S Just Found Their Website And They Still Have This Product, Which They Call A Chocolate Pate' (Not Cake). It Was Way Too Rich And Sweet For The Old Gal. Here Is What It Looks Like:

I'm at Red Rock West one night and TooCute is tells me she she just got off the cell and her friend from work is coming down. I was already drunk and I was just like cool whatever. Her friend from work gets there and it turns out to be a good friend of mine from college who I hadn't spoken to in a couple years.
