Better team than last season...much shittier NFC East this season.

Should be another walk as far as the division goes...after that, who knows.

For the Eagles to have a chance to win the Super Bowl two things must happen: 1. A major improvement in defense, especially against the run. 2. Not facing the Colts in the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning looks like he's facing a pop warner team every time he steps on the field against the Eagles defense. It's comical.

I love posts like this that guess such a lofty record when we're not even through preseason yet.

I said it last year, I'll say it again, you absolutely cannot forecast a season until you're two games into the year.

But don't kid yourself. The first thing any of us do in our heads when the schedule is released is go through it and project a win-loss record.

And of course for just about any team they will lose at least one game they consider a lock and win one game they consider a lost cause.

How is that a lofty record???

2000 11 5
2001 11 5
2002 12 4
2003 12 4
2004 13 3
2005 6 10
2006 10 6

Playoffs six of the last seven years, and division titles five of those six years...I agree you don't get a feel for MOST teams until a couple games into a season, but you can take a few on reputation and paper because the organizational structure in place has been so strong for so long.

Does anyone honestly believe New England or Indianapolis won't win at least 11 games this season? The Eagles have earned that rep. too by recent history.

Granted, key players on any of those three teams could get hurt and all bets are off...but you very rarely factor a star player 'maybe' getting hurt into preseason predictions

Eagles are playing the Ravens right now in the first pre-season game. Getting their asses kicked.

However, I HATE pre-season football. Too many games and too many injuries. I can see having a couple games to choose position players where there is a question about who starts. Otherwise, save it for regular season.

I think that explains it.

At least the Redskins may be able to run them to death in a game with the Portis/Betts combo.

What!!! If his skills have diminished at least keep him for short yardage run stopping situations. I can't believe this, he is a leader. Are you sure???

By the way.....

I don't understand it either. He must of really looked bad at training camp to get rid of such a fan favorite and team leader. I just heard that the Eagles are going to hold a press conference to announce it and Trotter will be there.

He looked bad towards the end of last season.

Seriously, if you go back and watch Trotter specifically in some of last season's games, he was getting pushed all over the field.

I think the Eagles, out of loyalty, gave him a shot to make the team and win a spot, but he looked equally as bad in his preseason games.

I know people love the guy, but he's pretty much done. Hopefully, he can pull a Hugh Douglas and trick another team into giving him one last payday for doing absolutely nothing.

How the hell do you get 7-9????

Even the staunchest of Eagles haters would be hard pressed to throw that out there.

And then the Birds could let him come back to throw T.O. around the trainer's room after practice. Hmm, well maybe the Cowboys could bring him in for a week to do that.

Troy Vincent
Bobby Taylor
Hugh Douglas
Ike Reese
Duce Staley
Shawn Barber
Carlos Emmons
Levon Kirkland
Mark Simoneau
Jon Ritchie
Koy Detmer
Hank Fraley
Bubba Miller

And I'm sure there's more.

All of those guys are guys that the Eagles either cut, traded, or didn't resign in the preseason that raised eyebrows with the fans, over the last few years.

And none of them have really been heard from since.

Simply put, the Eagles usually know when their players are done.

The only player over the last five years that they've quit on that's actually done well after leaving would be Terrell Owens, and we all know WHY that occured.

Actually, there's one more that played well after being released - Derrick Burgess

So that's two out of how many? The Eagles generally know what they're doing in this regard.

Hi. I'm in Delaware.[/QUOTE]

Another Delawarean here.

Eagles will be 11-5.

Sorry to see Trotter go. I don't have any arguments. I don't think the coaching staff has been wrong yet about any of the vets that they let run off. Burgess on the other hand.... Ggrrrrr.

Anyway, GO BIRDS!

No...not since we signed the Australian sensation who got decked by that Ravens' special teamer and basically called the guy a pussy after the game.

He doesn't even know the rules to football, but he's awesome. Hope he makes the team.
