Janis Joplin tops my list
followed by, but in no
particular order:

Chrissie Hynde
Patti Smith
Stevie Nicks
PJ Harvey
Courtney Love (before she got
so Hollywood)
Kate Bush (not so much a
"rocker," per se, but she rules!)
And I always liked the gals
from Luscious Jackson. Are
they still around?

Janis definitely rocked the house, but my all time favorite is Chrissy Hynde. She floors me not only as a singer, but as a songwriter and rhythm guitarist, too. She can hold her own with any male counterpart in the history of Rock 'N Roll, in my book.

Definitely Me!!

my all time favorite is Chrissy Hynde

In college I idolized her! In my opinion, she was everything a woman should aspire to be! She was tough, held her ground, was a kick ass rhythm guitar player, and was still feminine!

In no particular order:

Kim & Kelley Deal <more for the Breeders than the Pixies>
Juliana Hatfield
Babes In Toyland <they fucking rocked>
Beth Gibbons of Portishead
Justine from Elastica
Anna Waronker & Petra & Rachel Haden formerly of that dog.

And who could forget the greatest female rocker out there today, the incomparable Shirley Manson of Garbage fame? It doesn't get much better than her.

Courtney Love missed 'cause she really kinda always sucked, and rock isn't always about who the dirtiest skank is...

It's not funny, my ass is on fire...

Janis Joplin
Stevie Nicks
Debbie Harry

These are probably some different choices from the rest of you.

Poe
Tori Amos
Dolores O'Riordan
Veruca Salt (before the split)
Michelle Branch (even though I may be crucified for picking her)

And Luscious Jackson, alas, is no more.

They rule! You know who else
could party like a rocker even
though she wasn't really a
rocker? Bonnie Raitt! I know,
that might seen lame but she's
really cool!

I've been listening to a lot of Stevie Nicks lately, and it occurred to me how underrated a songwriter she is. What an awesome talent to be able to write such gorgeous and varied material as "Gold Dust Woman", "Landslide", "Sara", "Storms", "Dreams", "Silver Springs",... I could go on and on.

She's also stunningly beautiful, and I've had a crush on her since Junior High School!

I have liked Sheryl Crow since her fist album. But I have to agree with Stevie Nicks. She was probably the first female rock act that I enjoyed.

Veruca Salt (before the split)

Very true, they were awesome...one of the few bands I love that I've never seen live...

siouxsie sioux

She was ruined by an ex- of mine, but had some great songs...

I've been listening to a lot of Stevie Nicks lately...
She's also stunningly beautiful...

Ummmmm if I'm not mistaken, last time I saw her, she had taken the Sally Struthers diet plan and ballooned up quite a bit...

It's not funny, my ass is on fire...

She did balloon up but she's lost a lot of the weight and looks fantastic! I could only hope to look as good at 50!!
