Ohhhhh Soorrrrey! (http://www.courierpostonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070811/LIVING/708110308/1004/living)

Merv Griffin, the entertainment mogul, singer, talk-show host and horseman who has called La Quinta, Calif., home for 20 years, is in grave condition with cancer.

"Entertainment Tonight" has reported that sources tell the Hollywood show that Griffin's prognosis is not good. Griffin's representatives have not returned calls to confirm or deny.

Griffin, 82, was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in mid-July after a recurrence of the prostate cancer he battled in 1996 was found during a routine examination.

Anyone got him in the Death Pool?

Is "prostate cancer" the new "pneumonia"?

I still proclaim Rick Moranis-as-Merv with the pepper grinder in the microphone while he's a lounge entertainer is still one of the best sight gags ever.

Griffin has a son, Tony, by ex-wife Julann Griffin, and two grandchildren.

He was STRAIGHT?!? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merv_Griffin)

I had no idea. I always thought he was playing for Fezzie's team.

"He's DEAD! You See!"

One of the cool ones though. I liked watching his show when I was a kid. He had good guests on and they were interesting.

Merv wrote an autobiography a few years ago. The sections about his dealings with Donald Trump were pretty funny.

R.I.P. I guess you won't be right back after the break.

I hope he passed peacefully - terminal cancer is a difficult fate to bear.
