Another Great reason to get BBC America.

for the Dr Who Fans

I know there is some mention of this in the Dr. Who Thread but since it is going to be on in the US I thought I would post some info about it:

BBC USA:

BBC America announced today that they are adding Torchwood (the Dr. Who spinoff based around Barrowman's bisexual Captain Jack Harkness character) to their Saturday evening lineup, starting later this year. The impressive Supernatural Saturday program already includes Hex, Life on Mars, and Dr. Who, and will gain both Torchwood and Jekyll, starring James Nesbitt.

It premiers September 8th at 9pm

HD Net uncut

North American High Definition Cable Channel HDNET has announced it has acquired the rights to the first two seasons of Torchwood. It will begin showing the series on September 17th.
"We're thrilled to be airing TORCHWOOD in HD," said Mark Cuban, president and co-founder of HDNet. "This is certainly a Russell T. Davies signature show. TORCHWOOD explores adult themes and doesn't shy away from anything. Whether it's the diverse storylines or the hero's ambivalence to sexual boundaries, this is not your typical show, and I love it."

I have to disagree - Torchwood is very watchable. It isn't doctor Who, but it isn't meant to be. Torchwood is a little darker, gritty, and more violent than Doctor Who. I think it lends itself to comparisons with the X-Files more than anything.

I already watched the whole season via download (since I didn't think they would bring it to the US), and all-in-all it was a strong series. It still needs room to grow, but you have to look at the show as it's own entity rather than a Doctor Who spin off. They simply don't have the same feel.

My vote is to check it out if you like Sci-Fi, and especially if you liked X-Files. Anybody have an opinion on the 2 episodes already shown in the US?
