I was one of the many who saw Chris at the Beacon on Tuesday (sold out both the Tuesday and Wednesday shows) and I couldn't have been more happy. He wasn't one of those people afraid to play old hits, but instead seemed to relish in his old songs from past bands. He was dead on for his Temple songs, played Opie's fav from the Singles soundtrack and play a healthy mix of Soundgarden, Audioslave and his solo work. It was almost like seeing a few bands in one and I have to give a ton credit to his band. They handled the tough guitar of both Soundgarden and Audioslave and whole history of music Chris has been around with ease.

Great show and I'd reccomend his show to anyone. It was nice to see someone who likes to play all his shit, not just the newest "on sale now" cd. He did crack me up when he brought out his two real young kids for a song with huge headphones on to protect their ears. The little boy couldn't have been more then 2 and he was banging his head to the music like a champ. It was hilarious. Also, they mixed in an acoustic set with so many great songs it again felt like another band just took the stage.

One thing that surprised me was that one of his songs was written for his friend who drowned. Oddly enough he died with Jeff Buckley in the Miss River, but who knew that Chris and Jeff were mutual friends? Between those two you pretty much have every note covered. Small world I guess, and I always liked the song too.

Oh and I forgot to tell my meter story. So we get there and there's a one hour limit to the meter and we have 1.15 left so instead of taking the chance we decide to wait around until we can cover the last hour. With Snoogs and Shark getting hit hard with tix and towing at the VIP, I decided it wasn't worth the 15 minutes. So while waiting we run into the store and buy a few lottery scatch offs. No shit, we win about 300 bucks right there and it not only covers the concert, but the nice meal and then some. I guess talking to Ant was good luck at the VIP event. The man is just a walking good luck magnet. If only I could chat again before my next trip to AC so I could win some major cash.

fucking Nice, the biggest scratch off i won was for $250 , found a $5 winner in my car, then bought a new scratch off at a 7-11 in a bad area in SI, I won the Money, tried to show wifey without bringing attention to it , then cashed it in my Area (which is nicer)

I have seen a few Soundgarden shows in the late 90s , early 2000s, Cornell is the Man

I actually learned to enjoy him/his music via Opie,Thanks Opie!

His voice was at its best in the Soundgarden days, but the music was often too dark and heavy for my tastes. Audioslave was more mainstream, but to be honest his voice just didn't have the range or edge it used to. So I guess I wish he would have joined Audioslave when he was 25. Not as familiar with his solo stuff, but I'll check it out if someone could recommend something.

That being said, one of the all time greatest voices in history. His lyrics are very underrated as well.

His voice, if anything, has gotten stronger. It has more to do with the band and direction of the producer with their work.
