BOSTON, July 30 (AP)-- Kevin Garnett is leaving Minnesota after the Boston Celtics agreed to acquire the All-Star forward in a multiplayer trade with the Timberwolves, a Celtics official told The Associated Press on Monday.

Among the players who could be headed to Minnesota are forward Al Jefferson, guard Sebastian Telfair, swingman Gerald Green and center Theo Ratliff, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal had not been completed. The official also said the Timberwolves would get at least one draft choice.

That is a ton to give up.. They better re sign him..

From what I was reading before, part of the deal included Garnett signing a long term deal.

Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett. They will have a playoff team finally.

i'm excited over the deal too, but come on...they made the playoffs in 2005 and just 5 years ago were in the conference finals. chillax.

Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett... hmmmm to bad this isnt the 2001-2 season when that combo would have mattered... Kidd+Carter+Jefferson+Nenad > Garnett + Allen

If the deal actually happens, they're basically pushing all-in to make a run to the finals in the next 2-3 years. Jefferson, the #5 pick and trading Ratliff's expiring contract for a young player could have been the nucleus for a strong, developing team that could be together for a while. This basically scraps all that to try and win now. It's not a terrible strategy if it works, but it's gotta work.

This deal is really about Jefferson and clearing cap space (Ratliff's contract expires after this season). Green and Telfair are just in it to make the salaries match up for the cap, although Green could be a solid player.

Its so funny.. Bos fans are so media driven
When the garnett deal first got announced my friend calls and is like.. this is a TERRIBLE deal.. we gave up the whole team.. For a 32 year old 12 yr vet, with iffy knees.. this sucks.. Al Jeff and Green are gunna be studs.
A day later.. Man what a great deal
i am like wtf?? He goes.. Man all these stories that i read and heard changed my mind..

Well, when you have Bob Ryan writing about what a great coach Doc Rivers is what else can you expect?

Im getting a vibe that the Celts will start off Awful, then hit their stride late, making a 4 or 5 seed

Win in Rd 1 and lose to the 1 Seed

this is a step up from what they have been, so if Upper Mid Card is what you want, then all the $$ spent is well worth it

Please note that i am a Jinx, and the Statement above hurt your teams chances

C's are trying to get Reggie Miller to come out of retirement. He could still play at 42 I'm sure.

Ummmm...........................that might be a bad idea.

Somebody needs to remind Danny Ainge that he is a horseshit GM.
