Anyone have any recommendations for home music software programs? I used to use propellerhead reason but lost it in a reformatting snafu. Suggestions?

I just use GarageBand on my Mac.. you may want to look into Fruity Loops or ProTools. Both of them are not cheap, however.

If you want free but limited editing, Audacity.

To create music from the computer software program than I can use with real instrument material that I will record onto my computer.

This is pretty good. We actually teach a basic class on this software at CSB.

Use it along side something like adobe audition (cool edit pro 2.0) and you can do some really cool stuff.
