I caught it today on HBO On demand. I did find it hilarious, but theres one thing. Too much emphasis on Bush. I did find all his Bush material funny buy Maher might run out of material after Jan 20th 2009.

actually he might not, he's doing a movie with Larry Charles, the director of Borat, about the state of religion in the world. There's an article about it in this months Esquire, it seems like it could be pretty good.

Larry Charles the Curb and Seinfeld genius. Mahr hates religion more Olberman hates Bill O.

Parts of it were good, I'm surprised he made the same awful joke about the Mormon (Romney) being the only Republican candidate with one good marriage.
And there's not much of anything that makes me uneasy when it comes to comedy, but I thought some of the stuff on child molestation went a little far. Saying the female teachers banging the male students isn't a bad thing at all is fine (but also played out), but when he took it to kids getting diddled not being as bad as him getting beat up by bullies when he was younger, that was a little much.

I thought it was funny shit. How do you know some 15 year old is dramatized by banging his teacher? Maybe he will have more confidence. I was never beat up in high school and never banged a teacher but I know how horny I was as a teen and know how good sexuality feels. I dont remember anything that I did in my teens sexually as being bad. Now if I got my ass kicked I would remember that being bad and would choose the other.
Bill Maher isnt my favorite comedian, but he is one of my favorite people in the entertainment and political game. Hes one of 3 or 4 people I would love to meet.

If you read what I wrote, I said the thing about seeing no problem with female teachers banging younger male students was fine. I personally agree with it, my only problem is that he's doing this special several months after these stories died out and he's far from the first guy to bring up the idea. It's just not that funny the 50th time you hear it.
Where I thought he went a little over the line was where he went from there. If you remember the special, he basically suggested that the kids who (allegedly) got molested by Michael Jackson had it easier than he did because he got beat up a couple of times. The punchline to that joke was him listing a bunch of pop stars from his childhood and saying that being molested by all of them would have been better than getting beat up by a bully. Trivializing that kind of molestation, which has nothing to do with teenage boys and their female teachers, was just a bit much for me. Completely my personal opinion (it happened to also be the opinion of the 5 other people I watched the show with), other than that I thought the special was good.

I bought the "Be More Cynical" dvd and the one where he constantly has the switching propaganda posters in the background(can't remember the name).
I'm a HUGE fan of Bill Maher, but his show is a better forum for his type of comedy than a Stand-Up setting. Anxious to hear more about the movie.

I did find all his Bush material funny buy Maher might run out of material after Jan 20th 2009. Bill is a social/political commentator far more than he is a Bush basher. As long as society is still a piece of shit (which it is) and politicians are still corrupt morons (which they will be), Bill will be fine.
I think he's hilarious, easily the smartest of his ilk, and love Real Time (back in August!).

The Real Time audience may be the most annoying audience in the history of TV. Worse than Jon Stewart's. I do find it funny when Mahr starts speaking something not considered to be bleeding heart liberal (like defending Imus) and they don't know what to do, usually they clap and laugh like crazy people but when Mahr does that there is silence.

I love it when a conservative is harping on a liberal audience. The other way too. I don't watch "Sean Hannity's America" with his live gig footage, but I'm sure they aren't any better. Seriously, they have crowds that love their shows...get over it.
