So there was a panel today at ComicCon announcing a few things:

Kevin Smith will be doing an episode of the Heroes anthology sub-series next year.

Two new female heroes - one from New Orleans, the other a Dominican.

And...

DL and Ando are not a part of the show any more, it appears.

After not watching one show of Volume 1 last year, I just got done the DVDs and I'm in for Volume 2. Not being into comics, I still enjoyed it a lot.

One question - for those who are reading the "novels", that I see you keep posting up - would you say one needs to read them before the second season starts?

Oh, and for that spoiler that was posted above, by Tenbatz, I've seen posters for the new season and the second character you mention is on the new posters.

i also did not read the novels, but i watched season 1. are they just filler or leading up to season 2 story line. i doubt they can be all that important since most people will not be reading them

they're not really essential to the show

they're just a few backstories on some of the lesser heroes, some contiuation of where a particular episode left off but nothing major

well i guess one thing, the novels told us about lindermans power a few weeks before the show did, and the debuted that chick that met ted in the middle of nowhere who could read and interpret the internet and all communication that goes through the sky

they showed us the origin of the haitian, his dad was like a shaiman in his village and the dad almost killed him b/c the haitian could take away his powers

they showed us how bennett come to the company, and invisible man's 1st partner

they show us what happens to ando after hiro sent him back to japan( storyline right now)

Are people as excited for Season 2 as they were for Season 1. Last year, I was chomping at the bit and telling everyone I know, that they gotta check this show out. And it seemed like this show that would be awesome and no-one would watch and it'd be canceled. Now that it's this big success with viewers, that everyone seems to talk about it, Are you excited for it or kinda ehh about it.

Don't get me wrong, I'll watch it but it just seems too hyped.

Didn't like Chuck. Impressed by Journeyman, but it seems like they tried to wedge about 8 hours of plot into 60 minutes of show.

well from reading the online novels she has the power to kill others i forgot how but having her brother in a very close proximty prevents her power from working

hence when they were separated everyone in the truck died

maybe its just me but when heroes ended a few months ago

i was under the impression that peter would survive since he had regenerative powers and that nathan died by bringing him up there

yet everyone thinks peter is dead and nathan is still alive and has become a drunk

now i figured theyd explain nathan surviving by him bringing peter up there and letting him go and flying the fuck outta there quick before he blew up

Does anyone else HATE this kid. It's not just the actor, who I find nearly intolerable, but the character is TERRIBLE. That whole "are you a robot or an alien thing" really made me want to use my nine iron on Tim Kring. It was such cliche, hacky, high school dialogue.

Outside of him, and the constant plugging of the Nissan Rogue, I'm getting into this
season pretty well.

How come the Haitian and Noah are totally 100 percent cool, yet Mohinder and Parkman are the ambigously gay duo?

BTW, what happened after Claire cut off her toe and ran out after flyboy? Tivo cut off.

Also, Flyboy's a fucking creep.

Claire ran outside to find that annoying kid (I hope writer's kill him off soon! Slyar-style!!!), she stood there at the driveway, the kid is no where to be found, yet Mr. Muggles was barking up at the sky, but Claire didn't look up. It pretty much ends there.
Then "To Be Continued" and the preview for next weeks' episode.

So you pretty much didn't miss anything expect for the preview. That's it.

So glad I had Journeyman recorded after this. Would have missed the ending. Not that it was much, but I would have been annoyed nonetheless.

I found it strange that Peter was able to use Niki's power when he punched that guy across the room, but he didn't have the strength to break the ropes. Instead he used D.L.'s ability to phase through them which shows that he doesn't need to be right next to another hero to gain their powers. The closest they were in that plaza was maybe 100 feet.

Oh, and while Maya is nice to look at and has a cool power, I can see this becoming annoying. I mean, are we gonna have to sit through her crying constantly just to see her power activate?

I mean, she has had her hand torn up by a garbage disposal, stuck her hand in boiling water, and now cut off her toe. Each time she just winced when it happened. I wonder if it means anything that certain "heroes" are showing the same powers. Like are there only a certain amount of powers that exist and they keep getting reshuffled or are people with the same powers more related to each other some how. If more than one person can regenerate like Claire then Sylar wouldn't have needed to kill her he could just find someone else with the same ability.

Yeah I was thinking that myself but Im holding all that into account he was all shot up in the last episode.

I do like the fact that he's working with Suresh and Noah Bennett to try and take down "The Company" more so than any other little storyline theyre trying to produce this season.

What happened right at the end of the episode. My DVR cut out at exactly 10 and somehow NBC likes to stretch it a minute. Also, didn't see the "next episode of Heroes". The last thing I saw was Claire picking put the book that the kid left on her driveway. If anyone could fill me in, that'd be much awesomeness reinforced.

Yea that was alot of commercials it was like every 8 minutes. I think there is way to many story lines going on. I wish I could pick the ones that I like the most. Definatly the Maya & Miquel would be gone, that story line really gets on my last nerve. They should focus more on Clair & Peter stories.

Is anybody else completely put off by the ancient Japan subplot? And how did Peter go from bring tortured by the Irish gang to getting the family crest tattoo? and how fugly is the love interest?

It seems like last season, everybody was coming together, now everybody is splitting apart. So far, this season lacks cohesion. I'm waiting.

I loved the Japan subplot at first, but it looked like they outsourced the writing of that part of last nights episode to a 9th grade English class. Peter got the tattoo by helping the gang leader out in a robbery and then saving his life. Yeah, it is kinda dumb. The idea of someone thinking they can control Sylar and then having him over power and kill them has been done a few times already. And the entire part about him not being able to use his powers, lets see, do you think they kept him around so he could just sit there without any powers, or is he going to get them back eventually and show up at some critical time when the Heroes and the Company are in the middle of a confrontation. I can't wait to see which one happens.

Flyboy is the worst character ever. and the Biology teacher works for the Company.

The worst stories so far are:

1) The Incredibly Stupid Dr. Suresh
2) Flyboy
3) Maya and Miguel

The question is, who is the blonde in the painting? People would think Claire, but it could be Niki/Jessica or it could be Kristen Bell.

I think I'm giving up on the show. The finale last season sucked. I don't give a fuck about Maya and Miguel. Claire's Boyfriend can fly just like her real father, who gives a fuck?

I like the Japan subplot and I want to know more about Sulu and the other older heroes.

Did Parkman's wife leave him? I must have fallen asleep when she left the show.

It was a throwaway mention in the premiere, during the scene at the playground with Molly's teacher..

Parkman was getting a divorce from his wife and "his son", which didn't make a lot of sense because if it's only four months past the finale, she should still be pregnant - very late in the pregnancy, but still pregnant.

They did a piss poor job of covering up the fact that Claire had earring holes in her lobes considering they would close up due to her regen ability.

Mitgating factor: Claire's abilities only came "online" in the past year or so. Perhaps the re-gen ability doesn't heal ear piercings from before her powers became active?

Hasn't that future been washed away or do you think it can still happen? If Claire and the guy in Ancient Japan have the same power then couldn't it be possible for Sylar to find a different person that can regenerate and kill them and steal their power?

I actually got a kick out of this new chick from New Orleans. Sure, as soon as you saw her watching the 619 on TV that she was going to do it herself, but I still thought it was funny to see. I mean, think about it. Her power could be limitless. Anything she sees can be duplicated. See someone fly on TV, BANG, she flies. See someone lift a car overhead, BANG, she has super strength. Now, whether or not she retains what she learned has yet to be determined, but if so, she is basically like Sylar, minus the messy brains.

Speaking of Sylar, there is one thing I was confused by. When he was standing with that guy who stole Claire's car we heard the ticking sound that Sylar hears when he knows someone has a power. Does the guy that stole the car have a power or was Sylar hearing the twins?

Honestly, the RKO or the Chokeslam would have been more believable, if her power includes a strength upgrade. Or better yet, a Van Daminator. The 619 is convoluted as is.

Yikes... this show is quickly falling into Lost and Soprano frustration status. I'm still enjoying it. The only thing that struck me as odd was that when West was describing his abduction, he remembered the man in "the horn-rimmed glasses".

What kid would describe a man with glasses as "horn-rimmed glasses"? I think he would just say "glasses", which leads me to believe that something his up with him. Maybe a plant by the company.

I agree!!! For the first couple of episodes, all West did was annoy and stalking Claire, all of sudden he shows Claire he can fly, and she's all into him suddenly.

Except Sylar doesn't seem to be able to absorb powers anymore. He tried to get the powers from the chick who creates illusions, but it didn't work - he killed her, scooped her brain, but didn't get the powers. It also looks like he lost all of the powers he absorbed before fighting Peter & Hiro. That's why he called himself Gabriel Grey instead of Sylar. But it's not clear whether this is a permanent condition or just due to the fact he is still trying to heal from the fight. Sylar might come back full force after he heals.

However, this is a big question mark right now. By the end of the season who knows what Sylar will or won't be able to do...

The 2004 Tsunami was centered in the Indian Ocean. Lost is in the South Pacific. I doubt it have any effect.

The illusionist said she had a way to fix his powers before he knew they were even gone. I think there may be more to it.

I didn't expect the storylines to be cohesive until midseason, like last year. But at least there aren't storylines that suck as hard as some of the ones last year. Even the weak storylines are playing as good character pieces right now.

I thought last night's episode was great. I think Jessica/Niki is a doing a double agent move on Suresh. Gain his trust and then find out he's actually working against the company, and let them know.

I thought the fight between Parkman and Nathan was great too.

But Clare's dad and Hatian walking around - where, Russia? - was just a bad blue screen shot. That took me out of the show - they should just have stuck to some other interior shot (like they did with Philadelphia). But that's just a technical thing, overall, a very good episode.

maybe it's like that thing in real life that if you get your ears pieced when you are born, the holes will stay open forever. but if you get them done later in life they'll close up if not used regularly.

seriously?? that whole fucking family is just the worst. i hate the kid, i hate the new cousin. if she has muscle memory powers why is she able to do stuff she hasn't exactly seen? like the song she was playing on the piano was not what micah was playing. plus the whole double dutch scene. wHOA A BLACK GIRL PLAYING DOUBLE DUTCH!!!! WHO WOUDA THUNK IT? i mean if you're gonna green screen bennet in russia you can make her do something more interesting.

west is annoying. parkman & suresh are acting like an old gay couple. peter's new girlfriend is terrible. i do like parkman's dad. i thought that whole deal was kinda cool. like he can place you in a really fucked up place, probably the one place you really really don't want to be. i think i like him as a character.

but maya & alejandro are boring me too.

& west is just annoying. no where near as likable as her old friend from texas.

People aren't born with the powers, they've shown repeatedly. I would think she had her ears pierced before she got her powers, so why would the existing holes close when her powers started to manifest?

Thats one thing I think makes the show flawed. Everyone is shocked when they find out they have powers and they are basiclly discovering them at the same time but at different ages. Claire, Parkman, Micah, Hiro and Peter all discovered their powers at the same time but they were different ages. Shouldn't you get you powers at the same age or around about the same time.

Peter is wearing a necklace that has "The Company"/Kensei symbol, he has obviously been near Veronica Mars because he has her lightning powers, and he was chained up in a shipping container that thieves "conveniently" got a tip about. It is apparent he was captured and had his mind screwed with in some way.

They are setting him up for something, probably based upon the last eight paintings that Isaac did. As a side story Noah & Suresh have been searching for the paintings that The Company confiscated, so maybe The Company is trying to setup Peter to either fulfill or stop the future that the paintings portray.

Issac's last eight paintings are a ruse and they were really done by Peter while he was captured. Either that or Peter has done additional paintings that give more info about the future.

Either Claire's turning heel or HRG is turning heel. Both of them showed corrupt tendencies - West got in Claire's head by fucking with the head cheerleader, and HRG seriously murdered someone. They weren't a jack-bauer style terrorist. He didn't DO anything. HRG just flat-out fucking killed him.

For almost the entire first season they never put his name. He was referred as the guy with the Horned-Rimmed Glasses or Mr. Bennett.
Only until the last episode (I think) is when he finally introduced his first name as Noah. I think he said "Call me Noah", or something like that.

It's funny how HRG revealed his name in the last episode(I think) last season as Noah Bennett.
Yet people would still refer to him as HRG. (Maybe his darker side)

Last night's episode was great. I like how Matt's powers has potential to grow, and his scene with his father in the "trapped" room was great.

I'm thinking it was definitely Adam that killed Hiro's father. Falling off the roof wouldn't have hurt him and thus why there was no one there when Ando looked over the edge. It was most likely Maury that attacked Mama Petrelli though.

As for the name change, Adam Monroe was probably his birth name. I'm sure an Englishman wasn't named Takezo Kensei by his parents.

We learned how DL died, although I think it was a complete waste of the character and don't understand why he died... it's not like he had another show to go to, like David Palmer/Dennis Haysbert did.

We got a decent amount of backstory on Maya, although I don't understand how they could possibly tie the murders to her so rapidly. I mean, we, the viewers, saw that she did it, but from a real world forensic view, how can you deduce that a single woman killed 40+ people with no gun and no violent trauma?

BTW, if Bob's name is an acronym for his initials, like B.O.B, I'm gonna be really pissed.

It's the whole Writer's Guild Strike. It was suppose to be "fall finale" like they did in Lost and Prison Break last year, but it seems they only have three more episodes that are actually in the can. I heard they recently filmed a new ending and it's basically if the strike continues, they'll make that season finale of S2. This whole strike thing is fuckin' up a lotta good shows.

An entire wedding is murdered except for the groom and his sister, who have disappeared. I don't care what backwater you are from, if they are the only two survivors, they are the prime suspects.

I thought the entire episode was a waste. 1 hot character development and we learned Haitian is the ultimate double agent. Too bad his plan to give Peter a new life lasted not so much.

well adam was in japan 400 years ago (as takeo kensei, although i still think hiro was kensei) when hiro went back there and is obviously still alive in present day as he's with peter

so if adam can regenerate like claire and he lived so far over 400 years that means claire will as well, now peter absorbed her power so he'll live forever and they gave nathan adam's blood in the hospital so he'll live forever

these are only my assumptions as i havent seen anything on the show to say its true but its a good guess considering adam's been around since the 1600's

I think you may be off on the blood thing.

Adam can live forever (or perhaps just for a really long time, if he is still aging but just really slowly).
If Peter is able to get Adam's powers and keep them he will do the same.
Claire may be able to do the same if her powers are the same as Adam's. (She seems to be able to regenerate even after extremely severe damage so I would assume it is)
They haven't said that exposure to Adam's blood will pass his power onto others, all we know is that it heals them.

But how do we know it's Claire's blood and not Adam's? Noah is in an undisclosed location, seemingly alone - we don't know who saved him or whose blood they used. It is conceivable that "The Company" has a store of Adam's blood they can use in an emergency. He was their prisoner for 30 years after all. Of course it could be Claire's blood, but the point is we can't be sure at the moment.

I think Mohinder used the blood to save Bennet. He saw only one way to fully gain Bobs trust and get the situation to cool down. Now he isn't viewed as on the fence but fully behind Bob. Bennet can work behind the scenes without even being thought of as a risk. Kristen will do a face turn to help Claire and it possible that she saved Bennet too. She feels bad for Claire and doesn't want to see her end up a mess.

I think we will see Hiro vs. Peter before Hiro and Adam.
