I've always thought I had a decent background of movies, but recently I've comprised a list of movies people allways say ''You've never seen that?''. I think part of it is, I'm a product of being young when most of these movies where out, but thats no excuse. I'm slowly checking off the list, but what are the movies you haven't seen, that people always have to say ''You've never seen that?''
Mine:
1. The Rocky series
2. Bull Durham
3. Fast Times at Ridgemont High
4. Raging Bull
5. Goodfellas
6. Any Woody Allen Movies
7. Four Rooms
8. The Natural

If you've seen "Back to School", "Caddyshack" and "The Godfather" then you really don't need to see anything else.

4. Raging Bull
6. Any Woody Allen Movies
7. Four Rooms
8. The Natural
Those for me too, as well as :
The Godfather series(I think I've seen all of the first one, only in bits and pieces)
Apocalypse Now
One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest
American Psycho
If it was black and white, and it wasn't "The Day the Earth Stood Still" or "The Man with the Golden Arm", I didn't see it.

Most of the movies on my list of these are like really old like Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, or 1940sish like John Ford or 1960s ish like Sam Fuller. But thank you Netflix, I'm currently doing the Sammy Fuller thing. Who's next? I don't know!! It's a mystery to me!!
I know. Its bad. I'm working on it as we speak. I just watched Bull Durham. You probably picked the worst of those 10. And I'm even including the bad Woody Allen movies in that.

My true story
back in high school Rocky came out So me and my buddays went out to hang at the beach and generally party under the pretense of going to see Rocky. We even used the excuse that the 710 show was sold out and had to get tickets to the 915 show so we did not arrive home until close to midnight. My old man had only one question for me when I arrived home:
Who won the fight at the end??
Well of course I had no idea whether Rocky won or lost and was not allowed to take out the old family truckster for many weeks after that.
I never saw Rocky until many years later probably 10 years later

and really the 3rd matrix was horrible, just the middle on was that bad.

So Matrix horrible lead actor in a concept for a movie that is horrible.
He wants to free all these people from an amazing world where basically everything is perfect just because they think they should be free. Who are these people and neo to decide that he should take away my perfect life?
It is not a philosophical movie at all like they make it seem, it is horrible.

I refuse to watch Godfather 3. I got the whole trilogy for christmas about six years ago, and part three is still in the plastic wrap. I've never heard anything good about part 3 and I just don't want anything to tarnish the first two for me.

the people are not perfect, they have the illusion of perfect. in reality they were being mined like coal to power the robots.
it would be like putting old people in a nursing home that was really nice and everything wasd perfect, and then giving them drugs to make them happy, when in reality you were just keeping them around until someone needed a liver or some other body part.

no i understand that but who cares if they believe their life is happy and perfect? the people werent given drugs they were just given a perfect unreality, why should someone be allowed to take it away from them?
Lets say you had this perfect life but in reality it was fake, and they took it away and you lived in an underground cave fighting robots you would want that?
Fuck that it basically said you dont have free will because we are going to free you from this perfect life you have so you can serve us now and our cause.
Sometimes the illusion of perfection is alot better then a reality of crap.
My problem with it is that this small group of people wanted to free everyone even though some people most likely didnt want to be free

also, no one was freed without deciding on their own.
it was also great visually and had great action scenes. the shoot-out is my favorite from any movie.

don't want to spoil anything, but that doesn't happen. so, you'd rather live hooked up to a virtual reality system while computers (or aliens for another take) used you for energy/food? crazy talk.

actually, the people who know a thing or two aboot philosophy and religion would disagree with you. a quick search on the internets would show you this. it's not fanboys saying "wow, dude, that was so like philosophical and shit" but hardcore discussions by actual philosophers. here's the first site i pulled up and they're talking the matrix and how it applies principles of kant's view on objective reality, descartes and skepticism, nietzsche, plato's cave, and much more. not that i follow any of that, but the people who know philosophy say it's there.

okay this will contradict what i said, but the beauty of philosophy is you can apply it to anything, but it doesnt mean it makes sense, which is another beauty of philosophy.
I took Philosophy of the Simpsons in college and it was fun and interesting but that doesn't mean I actually believe it or that it makes sense.
There are so many things out there dissecting the philosophy of the simpsons, seinfeld, friends, family guy, and other tv shows, doesnt mean it is actually philosophical or had the intention of being so.

true, but i've seen a lot more on the matrix and what i've heard is more dissecting what's actually there than trying to force ideas to fit the movie, if that makes any sense.
i guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree.
