Whose job would you least like to have considering the following scandals:
NBA: Corrupt officiating. Could be a league wide problem, the entire integrity of the league comes into question for a sport that has long been seen as fixed.
MLB: Steroids. Barry Bonds closing in on Hank Aaron, you have to decide whether to honor the record or shun the possible cheating taking place. The problem was around before you got there but you are dealing with the fallout.
NFL: General thugery and dog fighting. Pacman Jones to Tank Johnson to the Michael Vick dog fighting scandal. You are Roger Goodell. Tagliabue got out just in time.
I would hate to be David Stern right now. The NBA always seemed easily fixable to me and now comes proof of a crooked official. A league that already had an image problem to begin with. And fuck him cuz i definitely bet on games that were fixed and I would like my money back quite frankly.

I picked NBA.
The best one would be NFL. The bad press they get is usually about individual players. The players may run the risk of ruining their own careers, but the NFL in general, is almost an unstoppable juggernaut as a business.
Baseball is suffering from the steroid shit, and it's not as popular as it used to be, but it's not going away any time soon. It's too ingrained into the American existence, to run the risk of collapsing any time soon.
The NBA has a bunch of problems. Fewer kids are interested in playing. The sport is now about the players and not the team. The current officiating controversy is bad. It's not like there aren't currupt officials in other sports, but it's out in the open now, with the NBA.

I agree with you but people say that baseball is the dying sport. Certainly not to me, I live and breath baseball (the NBA too), but little leagues are folding around the country. Young, black youths, and in turn the young, white youth emulating that, still keep basketball thriving.
On a professional level, its the most in crisis though. The NFL is completely teflon and the MLB is too ingratiated into the American fabric to fade too far from the professional spotlight. But there may be an effect with the current state of youth sports.

I like how you left out NHL, because you knew that it would be a landslide if you included it.
...unless of course, that's what you mean by "urinate in my sphincter".

On the contrary, Bettman just CRUSHED the Players Union....you WANT to run the NHL now, because there's a salary cap (which has gone up every year since its been put in), costs are controlled so most teams can compete financially, and other than the Nashville and Florida situations, the teams are pretty stable. Its every Commissioner's DREAM to do what Bettman and the owners just did to the players
Its never going to be something other than an afterthought in this country (thanks to ESPN for not covering it, and lack of a decent TV contract), but the game has REALLY improved since the lockout. Plus, the franchises in the league's biggest markets (NY, LA, Philly) are all pretty strong right now, youve got the best young talent in the league since the early 80s (Crosby, Ovechkin, Staal etc. etc.) now flourishing, because theyre not being Trapped and Left Wing Locked to death
Now if they can just get a TV deal that doesn't suck....

if its in terms of recent scandals i gotta go with david stern
his scandal could destroy the league and at the very least stunt the growth he had been making and hoping to make

Right now the worst job is the NBA because this scandal could be so bad for the league. But overall, I think baseball is the worst. The players union is incredibly strong, and because of the way things are structured, the MLB commissioner is basically just a puppet of the owners.
In more normal times, Stern has a lot of power and is incredibly well respected, and Goodell runs the biggest sport in the country. Selig is looked at as a joke and is just as remembered for the All Star game tie as some of his good accomplishments (wild card).

NBA lost my attention years ago...about the time of the WNBA inaugural season.

Right, but the money and numbers with the MLB have increased over the last decade. Youth leagues might be less, but the better players tend to be overseas these days anyway. Go suck at football and basketball, you little bastards.

I think without a doubt it is the NBA.
the NBA is facing 2 problems that I can see. one is that they have a public image problems as Thugs and Gangsters, and middle class whites are not as interested as they were years ago. This was enhanced with all the all-star problems this year in Vegas.
Now, with the Ref being on the take, it is an even bigger black eye.
Couple that along with that massive fight 2-3 years ago where a fan got punched, and you have a MESS of a league that 10 years ago was on top of the world, and now is falling FAST.
The thing that have going for them is they have a REALLY smart commissioner. If bud Selig was the NBA commissioner, it would be getting buried soon

He'll always be a hero to me for finally bringing back baseball to the District....I will NEVER say a bad word about him
